Park Hyo Shin Remake - Neo Classicism

YesAsia Editorial Description

Hyo Shin's melodious classics!

Park Hyo Shin is something of a new R&B wonder in K-pop. Even though he has not even reached his 25th birthday yet, he already possesses a vocal gamut that puts many much older and more experienced singers to shame. Thus it comes as no big surprise that he was honored with various newcomer awards in 2000. On his latest LP called Neo Classicism Park performs cover versions of K-pop classics with a lot of verve and style. His new hit list includes such smash songs as Cho Kwan Woo's "Come back to me again" (track 3), the British-funk flavored "To You" (track 6 -originally performed by Yoon Sang), his emotionally improvised R&B tune "Love Love Love" (track 7), the absorbing movie track "A letter of Autumn" (track 8), the rock-beat filled "To my old friend" (track 5), his soulful remake of Mono's former hit single "You always" (track 9) as well as Susie Kang's "Scattered days" (track 1) that was arranged to perfection by Hwang Sung Jae among overall 12 outstanding hits no real fan should miss!

Great album! Customer Review Rated Bad 10 - 10 out of 10
It's hard to believe that Park Hyo Shin is only 23 years old. When you hear his deep voice, you would think he is much older. He has such passion in his voice. As this CD is a remake of different songs from the past, after hearing his version, it made me want to go back and listen to what the originals were like. I highly recommend this CD as well as his other CDs. They are all excelent!

Hyoshin: Million Dollar Voice Customer Review Rated Bad 10 - 10 out of 10
I am a South Korean native who has been collecting CDs since the very late 80s. I can say without hesitation that this album is the best one, out of my nearly a thousand collection of CDs.

Reasons are as follows:

1. Rarity of the Hyoshin's deep, masculine, soulful voice, particularly rare to be found in the Asian continent. One has to listen to the voice to understand what people are talking about when they say his voice is one that resounds and echos souls. He has a tendency to feel his lyrics and animate every word.

2. Reminiscense of my youth, as the song choices historically, collectively, and successfully organized the way it did and the way Hyoshin produced this album gave fresh and innovative feeling to each and every track. No feeling of redundance presented.

3. Physical value of the album with binded clear, opaque plastic film catalogue with clear vinyl plastic cover for the titanium-looking CD, all contained in a slim, metal-looking jacket.

4. Sentimental value as suggested by the title, Hyoshin will sure mark a major impact on the South Korean's popular music culture with the benchmark of this album in the future as he has an unlimited potential only in the early 20s

5. My recommendation. This is my first time writing a review for any CDs on YesAsia.com even though I have been shopping here for almost a decade and I am not affiliated with this company in anyway.

Unbelievable... Customer Review Rated Bad 10 - 10 out of 10
This absolutely has to be one of the BEST albums I've ever bought!! It's not just his voice (which is amazing anyway), but his undeniable musical talent shines through right from the beginning to the end. Cannot recommend it highly enough.
