　　鋼琴屬健盤樂器。它是當今世界主要的樂器之一，鋼琴的出現比較晚。雖然有各種說法，但一般認為第一架鋼琴由佛羅倫薩的克�奡粥U福�堙]Bartol omeo cristofori,1655-1731）於1731年製造。
　　鋼琴既可用於獨奏，亦可用於合奏，還可為歌唱或其他樂器擔任伴奏。獨奏方面的體裁很多，例如奏鳴曲、變奏曲、協奏曲等。合奏方面則有室內樂曲，包括鋼琴四重奏曲、鋼琴五重奏曲以及與小提琴或其他樂器結合的二重奏曲。尚有兩人同在一架鋼琴上彈奏的鋼琴聯奏曲。20世紀後，有作曲家用於交響音樂中。
