As if Hong Kong needed more collateral damage from Jackie Chan, along comes Police Story 2, the follow-up to the immensely successful Police Story! Jackie Chan returns as cop Chan Ka Kui, who's saddled with a trio of problematic plots that would bring even down the toughest guy. Some mad bombers are threatening Hong Kong, so Chan is put on the case to sniff out the bad guys. However, Chan simultaneously must contend with the creeps from the original Police Story, who've returned to annoy him with their smarmy attitudes. AND there's Chan's increasingly grumpy girlfriend May (Maggie Cheung, given a bigger role in this sequel), who's a little sick and tired of playing second-fiddle to drug dealers and mad bombers. Things reach a head in the explosive finale in an abandoned factory, where Chan Ka Kui must fend off three kung-fu fighting foes who are holding May hostage. More action, comedy, and heart-stopping stuntwork are handed to the audience in Police Story 2, a sequel which matches the original's award-winning action choreography with some award-winning stuff of its own! Highlights include a prop-filled fight sequence in a restaurant, and a playground tussle that's choreographed in classic Jackie Chan style. Police Story 2 may be more of the same, but with action like this, it's also more than enough!

Despite his one-man effort in nabbing the bad guys in the first film, all Ka-Kui earns is a humiliating demotion to traffic duty, not to mention constant harassment from the vengeful mobster he puts out of business.
