'91年12月から講談社刊「なかよし」に連載された武内直子の原作によるコミック「美少女戦士セーラームーン」は、'92年にはTVアニメ化されて話題となり、その後劇場版アニメやミュージカルも大ヒットするなど、社会現象と言われるほどの一大ブームを巻き起こした。そして2003年、初めての実写テレビ版が遂にスタート。セーラー戦士役は、主演の月野うさぎ役・沢井美優をはじめ、オーディションで選ばれた美少女ばかり。スタッフには田崎竜太をはじめとする平成版「仮面ライダー」シリーズのスタッフがずらりと顔を揃えている。
本作は、TVシリーズのキャスト＆スタッフによるオリジナル・ビデオ版第2弾。アルテミスとの出会いや、タキシード仮面との初対決など、セーラーヴィーナス・愛野美奈子の誕生秘話を描いた、TV版第1話へと繋がるストーリーとなっている。
クリスマスの夜、人気アイドル・愛野美奈子のもとに、突然ぬいぐるみが落ちてきた。そのぬいぐるみ、"アルテミス"との出会いによって、セーラーV"として活躍するようになった美奈子。そんなある日、同級生の母親が経営する宝石店を窃盗団から守ろうとした月野うさぎは、窃盗団に誘拐されてしまう…。
