a-nation'09 BEST HIT LIVE (Normal Edition)(Japan Version)
November 1, 2009 Smarten Up AvexThe performances which are on here are all quite good. There's also many good artists and we finally see BoA back at a-nation. However, there's only 1 of each person except for Ayu who has a complete 8! I may love Ayu, but I also love many of these artists as well. But it's not about who I love. It's the fact that a-nation is a music festival filled with many great and popular artists! It's Not An Ayumi Concert With A Bunch Of Special Guests! Then there's the a-nation '09 Live Digest, which is just short clips where you only see like maybe half(if lucky) of that artist's song performed, which is real dumb in my opinion. And there's some wonderful artists on that Live Digest list, like alan and Nana Tanimura. Avex really needs to smarten up with these a-nation DVD Releases in the future. To be perfectly honest, and I know it's asking a bit much, but personally, I'd love to see all of everyone's full performances released on a DVD or Bluray Boxset even though I realize what the cost of it would be. So on the whole, I'd great say to just avoid this release. It's just not worth it. The only thing I did overly like was the cover.... Did you find this review helpful? Yes (Report This) -
TABOO (SINGLE+DVD)(Japan Version)
October 8, 2009 Excellent!!I'm not Japanese, but I am a lesbian and must agree with my previous reviewer about the disgust feeling I receive from people's reactions to the music video for this. Kumi handles this subject with class and tries to remind us all no matter whether gay or straight that we shouldn't all just label things as a taboo just cause it seems out of the oridinary or different. This is what really caught me about this single the most. Plus, she did it with a great beat of R&B that's very catchy and addictive. Now, the video is very sexual, it's true, but I think she did a very good job of showing this subject in several ways through both lyrics and the visual sense of things with many aspects. The second song "Always" is quite nice, but not her best ballad. Then the remix of Taboo featured here is even more catchier and addictive then the original mix. Plus, the instrumentals sound great as well. I'm very pleased with this single, and if more artists begun to step up and open up over this subject in such a way, maybe this world might just get a little better. Extremely Reccomended! BoA (Bonus Tracks) (Deluxe Edition) (US Version)
(4)Our Price: US$18.49Usually ships within 1 to 2 daysOctober 5, 2009 Good CDI must agree with my previous reviewer. This album's great and is worth your bucks especially if you didn't already buy the first one. The new tracks are excellent, but I would've preffered a remix of I Did It For Love instead of the Radio Edit of Energetic. Other thing is that, as my previous reviewer already said is that there's only a photo on front and back of the lyrics booklet and one on first page when you open it. The rest of the pages are the lyrics written in plain text on white paper with no sort of fancy design or nothing. Even her Japanese singles have like 2-3 pictures. That's just cheaping out, and I even posted my opinion on her American website hoping maybe BoA or someone from her staff might read it. I bought two copies of this album elsewhere on the day of its release to support her here in Canada. I also saw a few other people buy it and I wish her the best of luck but she needs to not cheap out on the lyrics booklets and start advertising more. So on whole, give it an 8.5/10... and I look forward to her two upcoming Japanese singles. Did you find this review helpful? Yes (Report This) -

September 30, 2009 Perfect 10Angela's new comeback album is wonderful. First is the packaging. The cover as you can plainly see is gorgeous and so is the back cover, which is actually a slip cover which pulls out with a bonus photobook that's 52 pages of amazingly gorgeous pictures of the singer. Then we open up into the rest which has a small booklet (and the disks) which has some more nice pictures. However, this second one is simply the lyrics booklet, but still very very nice. The disks are in proper CD jewel slots like they should be with anything else. Now we come to the songs themselves. There's a good number of ballads on here, but none of them are dull, unoriginal or boring. However, there's also a good mix of fast pace songs as well, which I find Angela manages to balance perfectly from track to track. Her vocals also work really well in both the ballads and the fast pace songs. Another interesting point is that Track 10 "I started a joke" is a cover of some English song, and SURPRISE, her English is excellent performing it. Next and finally is the DVD, which only has 3 MVs on it. Still, they're all very beautiful and well done... and even kinda creative. I give this album a perfect 10! Good Work Angela! Highly Reccomended! Did you find this review helpful? Yes (Report This) -

(15)Our Price: US$66.49Usually ships within 1 to 2 daysSeptember 27, 2009 Great Wonderful TourIt starts off with one HECK of an opening and the show just keeps going and going with great dancing, singing, special effects, lighting, props and more. Costumes are all quite original and very creative. I enjoyed every moment of it, except for "Kiss The Baby Sky". Sorry, but not a personal favorite of mine. Still, it's a decent song. What gets me more than anything and my reason for not igving it perfect 5 stars is the price. Seems kinda pricy for a 2DVD Set. My reccomondation is wait an extra few days for the Overseas Version to be released. Same tour at a cheaper price. The other thing I must admit I'm dissapointed in, and it's more with avex then DBSK. It's only being released on DVD. So far the only one to get BluRay is Namie's Best Fiction Tour, which I boguht and the sound and picture quality BLOWS DVD quality out of the water! I just wish Avex would look towards releasing other Great Artists' concerts on BluRay as well so we can enjoy the great quality with all the BEST artists! Still, all in all a great concert, so the concert gets a 10/10 and the price an 8/10 Did you find this review helpful? Yes (Report This) -

September 27, 2009 Fantastic, but a few flaws. This concert I've already seen via Japanese TV. Kumi looks wonderful and performs wonderfully in every song, mic etc. The outfits are quite nice, but I found a few of them to be a bit tacky. Also, I think she could've done something more sexy for when she performed TABOO. It's a sexual song. She should do sexy things with it like she's done in past TV performances of it. This time she also brings up 4 people(2 guys/2girls) instead of just 1 during the performance of Shake It. This part was very fun and the one girl kept crying from so much joy and Kumi kept telling her daijobu(It's alright), which was very adorable. The entire concert is also very elaborate with a number of great props, special effects and such. She also sings her voice out with some great vocals. There's only one small thing which I really hate about this tour that makes it the first of her concerts where I'll have to skip something. I really can't stand Fergie in That Ain't Cool. I've never cared for her, and to be honest, I think I could get used to that one song if when they sung together I could actually hear both of them. The only parts I can really make out Kuu's voice is when its the couple small parts where she sings by herself. Aside from that one tiny little thing, the concert's great. Just I don't care for Fergie and it feels as if Kumi needs to raise her voice when she's singing TAC as well so we can hear both of them together. So all in all since it won't let me give 1/2 stars, I'm giving this 4.5/5 stars. Great concert, but Kumi, next time, raise your voice a bit when singing with another person so we can hear both you and the other singer. Did you find this review helpful? Yes (Report This) -

Up to You (ALBUM+DVD)(First Press Limited Edition)(Japan Version) DVD Region 2
(1)Our Price: US$37.25September 19, 2009 Half Japanese, Half British, All Talent!MiChi has captured the heart of an entire nation as well as myself, and has more than proved that she's ready to make herself among the top jpop stars like Ayumi Hamasaki, Kumi Koda and all the others. Her few singles have scored quite high on Japan's Oricon charts, and now she's coming along to introduce her debut album, which has her four singles Promise, Change The World, Kiss Kiss xxx and You included along with a ton of other great new songs to truly complete a 14 track wild roller coaster ride of wonderful tunes that you'll want to keep on repeat listening to over and over for hours on end. Her voice is amazing as she can do so much with it. This is not one of those artists that simply become popular over some one song that becomes a radio hit. She has true talent, and she really shows this through not only her vocal capabilities, but also through her Music Videos and Stage performances on TV... and hopefully soon enough I can add concert performances to this list. She's a true rising star that more than deserves to have her name engraved into the walk of fame. This first album is a true gem and since she's already caught the attention of so many, I encourage you to preorder this now, before the Limited Edition is sold out. It's not something you wanna miss out on. I've already preordered my copy. Now, how about you? Did you find this review helpful? Yes (Report This) -

September 9, 2009 Even Much Better Then Their Last!I love this album even a lot more than their previous one Kitchi Island. All the songs are very original and very catchy. This is a great album that you can really dance to. Also, all the vocals sound great with perfect timing. Nobody in the group ever sounds off or anything at all. It also has no filler songs. They're all gems. Oh, and for anyone wondering the tracklist since it's not listed, it's:
1.) Bounce
2.) Butterfly
3.) Vari2ty
4.) Strong Girl
5.) Oops
6.) Fantastic 4
7.) Sweet Boy
8.) Be Rocker
9.) Rally (feat. 낯선)
10.) Vari2ty (Inst.)
11.) Rally (feat. 낯선) (Inst.)
You have 9 perfect brand new songs with 2 nice instrumentals. Honestly, I wish the instrumentals were remixes instead, but it's okay. The Instrumentals sound good as well. The only thing I don't really truly care is the cover. I saw a promo image which I thought would've made a better cover. They were in silverish white colored dresses with sunglasses. They looked better in those. So, this album on whole get a 9.5/10. Good Work Girls! And I reccomend this album to all K-Pop fans.Did you find this review helpful? Yes (Report This) -
Otsuka Ai a-nation'09 T-Shirt (Ladies)
August 22, 2009 KawaiiAs the title says, this tshirt's design is very kawaii. I really love the "dropped ice cream" thing. Even though Ai's name is not printed on it I've still had a couple people recognize it and the artist, which I wasn't expecting too much since I live in Canada. It's also very comfortable and well made. Only thing is that this size is for small people, so maybe if you happen to a bit bigger you might want to get the Medium size instead. Very and Highly Reccomended! Did you find this review helpful? Yes (Report This) -

Also, getting this sky-blue color is much more summery and cooler in this heat. Not to mention it attracts attention from anyone who happens to know this fabulous artist. The shirt is also extremely well made and fits like a dream. It is a tad pricey I must admit, but all concert related stuff is. It's something I do reccomend for anyone that wants to show off that their an Ayu fan. A very nice collectable. Highly Reccomended. Did you find this review helpful? Yes (Report This) -
Koda Kumi a-nation'09 T-Shirt (Ladies)
August 19, 2009 Sorta 50/50OK, so like all Kumi items I've seen, this tshirt is extremely well made. The fabrics great, and it'll stretch to fit if you happen to be maybe a bit chubby. My friend got this tshirt, but I must admit the only two things I can't get over is that the shirt is black, which would be extremely warm during summer and it is being released at a summer festival. Not to mention that black doesn't seem a very summer-y type of color. The other thing is the design. It just seems gawd awful to me. Even her one from last year with the sundae seemed better than this. I get an almost Rolling Stones vibe from this tshirt. I think Kumi needs to get new design artists for her merchandise if they're going to come out with this sorta thing. So, it's kinda a 50/50 sorta thing with this shirt. I am a BIG Kumi Koda fan, but I just don't like this design, and since I already have plenty of other merchandise from her, I can wait til the next set of goods she releases. August 13, 2009 Great SingleThis is yet another wonderful single by Ayu. I really enjoy this one very much. The songs are really rather different sound than I've ever heard from her, but its a fresh enjoyable summer single to help really keep me in summer state-of-mind despite mother nature doesn't seem to be agreeing. The PVs are also very nice and well done. Plus, the remix was really cool. The only thing I thought could've been a bit better was the cover. She could've looked a little better on it. Aside from that, it's a wonderful single to remind you there's still time to catch waves at the beach before the leaves begin to change color fall. Highly Reccomended. July 24, 2009 Boring and RandomI watched this whole thing from beginning to end and I don't see how anyone could possibly call this a masterpiece. The film seemed completely random with random conversations. It didn't really go anywhere. Nothing but random scenes of talking while smoking and people about to have $3x simply cause they felt like it or something like that. I normally love Oshii's work, but this was a major dissapointment for me. Not only was it a waste of Mamoru's time and money, but also to everyone else that worked on this film. I highly reccomend this film be avoided. I normally never give a flat zero on reviews, but I was just that EXTREMELY dissapointed with a man who can normally pull just about anything great from his pocket. Did you find this review helpful? July 23, 2009 Fantastic Tour!!How do I know this? Cause I was actually there in 2nd row!! The visual effects, stage props(i loved the giant shoe during New Look :P), vocals etc we're all just great, and she kept myself and the rest of the crowd moving constantly right til the end. And so as a little memorable thing, I'm buying this. It's the first blu-ray released by Avex (that I know of anyways), and with the super hi-def picture and sound it's so worth every last penny. I'm gonna enjoy reliving this awesome experience over and over. It was as I said before a great tour. Also, the tracklist was just great too. I can't believe she actually performed that many songs. She even seemed to showcase more energy than in many of her past concerts. It's quite a treat for the eyes and ears. Definitely and Highly Reccomend! Did you find this review helpful? (3)Our Price: US$35.25Usually ships within 1 to 2 daysJuly 6, 2009 Great SingleKumi does it yet again after having a few sour songs in the recent past. These songs are great. It goes from Cute to Sexy to Fun, and the interludes are just awesome too. The PVs are just lovely. She has a lot of energy and some great dancing. The only thing is that I felt she went a bit overboard in the "cutesy" sense in the Lick Me PV. Aside from that, they're all wonderful songs and videos. Also, the pouch that comes with this limited version of the single is nice with a very decorative summery design... just it looks more like a thick pink ziploc in a weird sorta way. Either way, I still enjoy having it. It's a lot of fun for carrying all sorts of my random stuff in and showing off your fandom at the same time. And if you're wondering about Kumi's next single it's coming out in another few months. It's called Alive and she'll be trying out a sorta classical pop approach from what I've heard of the preview. It's going to be a new ballad, so there's another thing to look forward to. Kumi, another great job. Love it and thanks girl. Keep this up! And to everyone else, amazing single & highly reccomended. This picture displayed doesn't quite do it full justice. I totally love it. It's the perfect size for carrying around make-up and/or hair accessories. It's also a great collectable for showing off your ayu fandom. I even get comments from people who don't know who Ayu is. My only small complaint about this item isn't about the item itself, but rather the price. It just seems a bit steep considering the size and fabrics of this. Aside from that one thing I definitely reccomend this. The item itself gets a perfect 10/10. However, the price gets an 8/10. Did you find this review helpful? Yes (Report This) -
Love Life 2 (Japan Version)
June 26, 2009 Another good albumThis was a very good album, and I must say I enjoy the songs on it. She's a wonderful artist with a wonderful voice. It just goes so well from track to track and her voice flows perfectly. The only thing I don't care for is the album title and cover. She could've done something a bit more original... Just like Sony needs to stop just numbering the Playstations and come up with a new name for a new console... Back on topic, Love Life has already been done quite awhile ago, and I'm happy she's become a mother, but to be honest, I dont care for a pregnant woman naked on the cover of an album. However, this is yet another good album from hitomi, and I wish her all the best with her continuing career and her start of motherhood. Good album, and reccomended. Did you find this review helpful? ayumi hamasaki Premium Countdown Live 2008-2009 A (Japan Version) DVD Region 2
(1)Our Price: US$69.25Usually ships within 7 - 14 daysJune 3, 2009 Just Excellent!!This was in fact Ayu's best Countdown Live ever. She performed really well (as did everyone else) despite her injured bad hand. Watching the Making Clip afterwards you can see just how much pain she was truly in, which makes me even more proud of her for going ahead with the show at all. This is also part of what makes me idolize her and the majority of the Japanese people in general. Anyways, all the performances were just excellent with many different costumes, lightings props, some nice great speeches and jokes during the mic, an awesome short guitar solo by her guitarist during an interlude and more. I really felt myself having just as much fun as the people who were there did. It's a great addition to your DVD collection, and I reccomend it all the way.
PS. As for the Chinese subs problem, I don't know what to say. I bought the Japan Version. However, if there's no option on the menu to shut them off, sometimes pressing the "Subtitle" or "Captions" button on the remote a few times manages to work for me with other DVDs I own, so give that a try. Can't guarantee it'll work, but it's worth a try.Did you find this review helpful? Yes (Report This) -

May 7, 2009 Verily SolidThis new mini album is very different from anything she's done before. However, it isn't bad at all. It's actually Really Really good... and she didn't turn cutesy like half these other popular Korean girl groups out now either. The mini album flows well and has a bunch of great songs on it with some great lyrics and compositions. I was very pleased with what she's done with it. My only real problem with this mini album is the remixes. They're good, but there's a problem. The first 2 remixes are of the same song, but they sound almost perfectly identical to each other, and yet the same thing happens for the second set of remixes that finish off this mini album. Chae's had some great remixes before, and each one was different and refreshing enough that you almost forgot it was a remix of the same song as you just listened to. There was at least a few remixes of My Love on her last album, but they all sounded quite different from each other, but in this case it feels like they just dragged the same remix into the next track or something. Over all it's a good mini album. I give it a 8.5/10, and I'm looking forward to her next release. Hopefully the next one won't take so long either. Did you find this review helpful? May 2, 2009 Nice...
I don't usually bother with a-nation collectables. Usually I just stick to ones by specific artists. However, I caught this on sale at $13.49. Took me a moment and I decided to add it to my cart at such a bargain. All I can say is I'm glad I did. The tshirt is a great size and fits so incredible well. Also, it's caught more attention than I thought it would. Plus I really like the design even better up close. Oh, and they dont show you in the picture here but there's also the a-nation logo on the back of the shirt near the top. On sale, it's really worth your money, but at regular price you might wanna hang on a bit til they lower the price again. Certainly a nice collectable. Did you find this review helpful?
