A vibrant era of Hong Kong history is brought to life in Profile of Pleasure, a drama set during the waning days of legal prostitution in the British Colony of Hong Kong. Adam Cheng stars as Cheng Li Peng, a London-educated official who arrives in the territory to investigate the "pleasure houses" of West Hong Kong. He arrives with his Westernized Chinese fiancee Carina Lau, but discovers a web of seductive pleasures and secrets hidden in the Floral Ode House, a famous brothel with an assortment of comely courtesans. Among them is Rosamund Kwan as a sophisticated Shanghai prostitute, and Nina Li as a Hong Kong prostitute who may have past ties to the investigating Cheng Li Peng. Directed by Tony Au (Dream Lovers), Profile of Pleasure is an artful melodrama featuring beautiful actors, sumptuous art direction, and entertaining Cantonese opera sequences. 三十年代塘西有四大名寨。詠花寨乃名寨之一，在事頭婆八家領導之下，坐擁紅姑多名，有艷名四播的艷紅、剛南下投靠的陸千千、純情可人的玉葉和熱情豪放的金枝。好景不常，英廷為實施禁娼，遂派專員程立邦調查，隨行有其未婚妻莉莉。為瞭解情況，程率先往詠花寨，之後竟與陸千千等纏上。獲知真相後的莉莉向其父 ─ 警察廳長朱大爺求助。誰知朱原來與八家為老相好，對禁娼陽奉陰違。但為保烏紗，替女兒度出妙計，一場風波遂展開……

Before the Big Ban on prostitution, West Hong Kong is famous for its houses of pleasure. The most infamous of them all is Floral Ode House. Among its girls are Yen Hung who becomes a widow regularly, aristocratic Chien Chien, Cherry Fun who manages to lose the nickname, and a bevy of beauties. The madam who is on good terms with the police chief claims the bet business this side of virtue. Then there comes from England Cheng Li-peng commissioned to ban prostitution. He is engaged to Lily, the police chief's daughter. But his parents had arranged a wife for him when he was an infant. They have lost trace of each other. Cheng Li-peng starts his investigations who lead him to Yen Hung's and Chien Chien's bedrooms. He is surprised to find himself in love with all three girls. And Yen Hung turns out to be the missing fiancee......
