　　本劇講述上一代林家、孫家、賈家的恩怨心結與林家五兄妹、孫家兄妹、賈家兒女的愛恨交織的家庭爭鬥懸疑片。

　　久負盛名的實力派演員歸亞蕾在劇中出演林家五兄妹的母親林玉鳳，五個孩子則分別由池華瓊（飾林二萍）、張子晨（飾林三強）、徐菁遙（飾林四秀）、黃聖依（飾林五媚）等出演。而讓林母最操心的是二女兒四秀，而最懂得討好自己的則是大女兒二萍和小女兒五媚。她們兩個總是想方設法在母親面前爭寵。

　　劇中，林家的母親與失散的丈夫有一個讓彼此“等候20年”的約定，但現實生活中，她又面臨兩個執著的追求者，情感常常挑戰著良心與約定。大女兒也不讓歸亞蕾省心，劇中她的老公背著她與小飯館的女服務員有了孩子，還毫無顧忌地為私生子大擺“滿月酒”。

　　劇中出演林家小女兒五媚的黃聖依，她先是喜歡有點野性的帆船運動員孫虎，但結婚前夕卻被告知孫虎有可能是她的親生哥哥，而當她跟林家大兒子林一龍走到一起時，又發現孫虎其實不是她的哥哥，面此時孫虎設計搶走了林一龍的公司，並且入獄。面對複雜的情感，黃聖依何去何從，連她自己也搞不清楚了。

　　林家五兄妹的愛情糾葛與複雜的家庭背景將會如何呢？他們又將會怎樣面對呢？
