In Japan, kids play a variation of hide-and-seek called Oni Gokko where they must hide from the "Oni", or "demon". It's no longer fun and games though when the Oni turn deadly in director Shibata Issei's fantasy thriller Real Oni Gokko. Based on Yamada Yusuke's best-selling novel, the film features rising stars Ishida Takuya (Tokyo Boy, Night Time Picnic), Daito Shinsuke (Crows Zero, Hanazakari no Kimitachi e), and Matsumoto Rio (Tokyo Friends, along with Fukikoshi Mitsuru, Mitsuki Tanimura, and veteran actor Emoto Akira.

All across Japan, people with the surname Sato are turning up dead, but no one knows what is the cause behind this strange wave of deaths. Troublemaking high school boy Sato Tsubasa (Ishida Takuya) soon founds out why when he gets zapped into another dimension during a gang fight. In this alternate dimension, the king of Japan has decided that there are simply too many Satos around, and all people named Sato must participate in a deadly game of Oni Gokko. Evade the Oni for a week, and a wish is granted. Get caught, and the punishment is death in both worlds.
