Director: Yeung Kung-leong
Sima Man-yuen is a doctor with a wife and three daughters: Hung-ling, Pak-ling and Kam-ling. Hung-ling is in love with Man-yuen's assistant, Chun Lang-kam. However, Pak-ling is a young girl with the first dawning of love for Lang-kam and is making use of every chances to get close to him, much to Hung-ling's annoyance. Hung-ling is, in fact, not Man-yuen's own daughter. Her father, Wan See-yu, was a wanted smuggler. He abandoned his wife who had just given birth to Hung-ling and ran off with his mistress. Thus, Man-yuen adopted Hung-ling. Now, See-yu, instigated by his mistress, re-appears to claim back Hung-ling, hoping to extort money from the foster father. However, on seeing his daughter in bed, happy and contented, See-yu has an attack of conscience and desists from his demands. But Pak-ling has learned about the matter. She reveals the matter on Hung-ling's birthday. Hung-ling goes to a casino to meet See-yu, but See-yu is struck by conscience and refuses to acknowledge Hung-ling as his daughter. Distressed, Hung-ling returns home. Pak-ling apologises to her and Hung-ling finally realises the grace and kindness she owes to her foster-parents. Harmony reigns once more in the family. Hung-ling becomes engaged to Lang-kam. Refusing to attend the ceremony, See-yu watches the proceedings outside the window and quietly gives his blessings to the couple.
