Vic Chou “Remember that I love you”- Up to Standard

While the sparkle of F4 as a quartet has been dimmed since their stunning debut in 2001, these four Taiwanese hunks still charm in the business as individuals. When Jerry Yan, Ken Zhu and Vanness Wu have respectively opted for the big screen, Vic the next-door boy continues to show off his musical effort by releasing his second solo album “Remember that I love you” with ten brand new tunes.

Because of his relatively low and deep voice and still-in-search musical touch, the singing talent of Vic is yet to be as appreciated as his look. The writer actually once criticized his clichéd performance on one of his old songs “Most Special Existence”. This new album, however, has marked an outstanding improvement in terms of his better-expressed emotions and the well-suited song list. The quality of the songs themselves, mostly filled with melting melody and lyrics, is fair enough to soothe the girls. Of course there is still room for improvement but “Remember that I love you” can already be rated as an up-to-standard musical work of Vic.

The main track “Remember that I love you” begins this album with an R & B style. But that is about all it offers, sorry to say. Vic's tenderness, which is all that matters to his solid female fan-base, is probably all you can get out of this averagely-written tune. “Mum Says” sounds a bit like oldies with its arrangement but luckily it stands out with the lyrics. Those witty words, which remind the writer of Jordan Chan's “Her Mum Loves Me Not” and Leon Lai's “Family Time”, earn a credit.

The theme of “Message from Three Thousand Years Ago” is based on “Guan Ju”, a famous courtship poem from the Chinese poetic form “Shi Jing-Guo Feng” (The Book of Songs). It may or may not touch your soul but it definitely adds a different spice to the album with its rock tune. Other tracks worthy of listening once more include “Why Don't You Come?” and “How to Forget”. “Your Temperate” and “Happiness Guaranteed” are far too commonplace though.

This professional review refers to Remember... I Love You (Valentine's Day Special Version)

Passed: "Remember... I Love You" ~ Vic Chou

Although the Taiwanese group F4 is not as groundbreaking as it has been for the last two years, the F4 members are still four of the most popular artists in Asia.

While Yan ChengXu, Zhu XiaoTian and Wu JiangHao are all absorbed in making films, Vic Chou has turned to regionally release his brand new album "Remember... Love You" which has ten Mandarin songs.

In the present reviewer's point of view, Vic, who poses a low and deep voice, does not have a good sense of music. The present reviewer has also critised that the way how Vic sang "Most Special Existence" was very old-fashioned, though he does improve this time.

Improvement refers to the fact that he sings more passionately. Also, his smart choices of songs to sing contribute too. In general, this album is full of love songs which will not impress music fans except those of Vic's and F4's. So, "Remember... I Love You" is definitely not going to score 70 or even 60 out of a full-mark of 100, but it can certainly obtain a pass and will not fail Vic's fans.

The leading track "Remember I Love You" (Track#1) is a R&B ballad. It is ordinary and of nothing surprising. Vic's performance is barely impressive but fans would still like this song, as this is what the fans like Vic does - singing love songs.

Music composed for "Mummy Says" (Track#4) is hackneyed. Yet, its meaning and the message brought forwarded is funny and worths sparing time to listen to. "Mummy Says" also reminds the present reviewer of "Her Mummy Doesn't Love Me" by Chen XiaoChun and "Family Hour" By Leon Lai.

"A 3000-year-old Message" (Track#9) rocks a bit and is quite special. While most of the other songs such as "Your Body Temperature" (Track#2) and "Guarantee Of Happiness" (Track#7) are so-so ballads, "Why Don't You Come" (Track#6) and "How To Forget" (Track#5) will earn a round of applause.

Make a Wish is Better Customer Review Rated Bad 1 - 1 out of 10
Vic's Make a Wish CD is better than this one. This Remember..., I Love You CD is a big disappointment. Vic's singing did not improve any at all. His singing is very dull and have to refer to the lyrics book because he seems to mumble the words. I prefer his Make a Wish CD because that is better. The music and the lyrics are better. But Vic seriously needs singing lessons.

Fair Enough Customer Review Rated Bad 3 - 3 out of 10
If you're a geek for ballads, this is for you, much more if you're a Zaizai/F4 fanatic. This is not an impressive album though, but if you have a lot of extra money to spend, this is worth to spend your extra penny. His voice is fair enough, coz his songs doesnt really need much extra effort to sing. His songs are very plain and very safe to sing, good choice though coz it suits his deep & low-keyed voice, but not that impressive, as well, considering this is his 2nd album already. But then , this is an F4 album, hence it's always hot & very appealing to fans, especially girls.Still needs improvement, and a bit versatility in terms of singing, coz his charming looks is more appealing than his voice.I'm sure he'll do better next time, coz what I've noticed from the fab4, they keep on getting better & better as they mature, and they are sincere enough to disprove their detractors. Keep it up guys!

NOT TOO SHABBY Customer Review Rated Bad 7 - 7 out of 10
I think it's not too shabby for a debut album. I don't think he's the best singer out there and vocal wise is so so in this album. Few of the songs are good. I think he's still "exploring" (not sure if it's really him who explore or his producers and agents) his sense of music style. His music videos are cute though. He somewhat reminds me of Andy Lau's first few albums meaning not good but bearable. Hehehehe... :)

GREAT album!! Customer Review Rated Bad 10 - 10 out of 10
This second album is better than his first. It proves that he can sing both sad & fast songs. Track 9 proves that he can also raps! He's so talented in singing & acting. For those who haven't watch MARS yet, go watch it!!! His acting is superb! Out of F4 members, Vic surely acts better than the others.
