RIDGE RACER 7 (Japan Version) PS3

No Sony console would be complete without a Ridge Racer game, and now it's the PlayStation 3's turn! Ridge Racer 7 rockets to the PS3 with easily the most technologically advanced entry in the long-running arcade racing series. Like previous Ridge Racer games, the focus here is not on true-to-life (i.e. Gran Turismo) simulation, nor is it on gear-griding smash 'em up action (i.e. Burnout). The focus here is pure arcade racing, meaning players can pick up the game and get started in just a few minutes. Arcade mode allows players to choose a car and a track, and either challenge the clock or multiple opponents via the PS3's robust online capabilities.

Graphics and gameplay are smooth and impressive, as one would expect from the powerful PS3. Those looking for depth will find it here too. The Grand Prix mode allows players to start a lengthy racing campaign, taking their skills across the globe. Players must also forge relationships with manufacturers to earn "manufacturer points", allowing access to more cars and better parts. In a new twist to the Ridge Racer formula, players can now customize their cars down to the tiniest details. Hardcore car enthusiasts take note: Ridge Racer 7 features hundreds and thousands of car combinations, allowing anyone to create their (virtual) dream racing machine!
