Produced by revered film director Wong Tin Lam (father of Wong Jing), TVB series Rise and Fall of a Stand-in spins a dramatic tale about the unsung heroes of Hong Kong films. Miu Kiu Wai and Kent Tong, two of the network's original "Five Tigers", star in this series with actress Sharon Yang (famous for performing stunts at TVB's Anniversary Galas), and popular comedy actors Liu Wai Hung and Ng Man Tat. Some of today's top movie and television actors like Lau Ching Wan, Francis Ng, Michael Tao, and Lawrence Ng also play bit parts or extras here.

Hung Kiu (Miu Kiu Wai) and Hung Chun (Kent Tong) are Peking Opera classmates since childhood and they are like siblings to each other. They risk their lives working as stuntmen in martial arts films, and in one film set accident, their brother Hung Wai (Liu Wai Hung) broke his leg. Later, Chun gets his big break starring alongside a famous actress. But a twist of fate occurs after Chun has incurred a huge debt and wounded the loan sharks inadvertently. He is thrown into jail, while Kiu - his stand-in - is chosen to replace him. Kiu goes on to become a big film star, and the jealous Chun vows to get even with him once he gets out...
