Product Information
Roman Holiday was nominated for ten Academy Awards, and Audrey Hepburn captured an Oscar for her portrayal of a modern-day princess, rebelling against the royal obligations, who explores Rome on her own. She meets Gregory Peck, an American newspaperman who, seeking an exclusive story, pretends ignorance of her true identity. But his plan falters as they fall in love. Eddie Albert contributes to the fun as Peck's carefree cameraman pal. Stylishly directed by William Wyler, this romantic comedy ranks as one of the most enjoyable films of all times.

This movie stars Audrey Hepburn and Gregory Peck in perhaps one of the most romantic movies ever shot Roman Holiday. It was Audrey's debut Hollywood movie and also the only performance that won her an Oscar. What's also worth noting is that the film was directed by William Wyler whose Ben Hur was the unrivalled movie as far as awarded Oscars are concerned until James Cameron's Titanic set sail. As for Roman Holiday even though it did not become an Oscar giant, it's still a memorable movie with top notch performances by Gregory Peck, Eddie Albert, and of course Audrey Hepburn who hardly ever fails to capture the hearts of any movie connoisseur. In this movie she portrays a princess who is tired of the responsibilities that are linked to her status as representative of an influential royal family. As a result she flees from her cage-like palace into the arms of journalist Joe Bradley (Gregory Peck) who finds her alone after she's had one drink too many. Soon afterwards, he finds out what her real identity is and at first wants to take advantage of the situation by selling his story to the highest bidding press office. However, as time goes by, he finds himself captured and in love with the naïve charm of the beautiful princess. A silver screen treasure aged over half a century, Roman Holiday still manages to keep viewers spellbound like back in the good old days. |
