very very silly Customer Review Rated Bad 2 - 2 out of 10
This drama is so childish. The story is full of contradictions and so stupid in a lot of occasions too. Wallace did not perform well nor could he stood out amongst the rest of the male cast. Epistle 25 eventually showed some lights only to be marred by the subsequent epistles all the way to the end. The more you see Shu Kee the more you'll find her annoying.

Unexpected Customer Review Rated Bad 9 - 9 out of 10
I was surprised how much I really liked this TV series. The storeyline was smooth and consistant. I enjoyed the way it presented each main male's character's relationships, their past, and their relationship with the "girl". It was sad and moving at the same time. Well worth owning. I've watch this several times already.

happy ending Customer Review Rated Bad 10 - 10 out of 10
This show rocks-) finally something with "everything" in it. Drama, Romance, Acting, Looks, Nice Scenery and not too much action. I'm afraid that Shu Qi and Wallace didn't have a strong chemistry though.

Surprisingly (Disc 1 and 2) Customer Review Rated Bad 8 - 8 out of 10
Honestly, I only wanted to watch this TV series because Shu Qi is in it. I was initially worried that I wouldn't be able to finish all 6 discs this year. But to my surprise it kept me glued for 9 hours last weekend (and this is just for Disc 1 and 2)!

Episode 1 opens with a Charlie's Angels-like scene wherein 5 beautiful Chinese stars, disguised as dancers (but trained as killers), attacked an opponent of Councilor Yang Su's palace. The scene opens up with a lot of Kung Fu and fancy girl kicks that made me yawn (and expected to be disappointed)! However after this, the real story began unfolding. And it is exciting!

The plot is chocolate-cake thick (and I only finished 10 episodes, a lot more to go), but the introduction of new characters has been phased very well that you are not inundated with many characters at once. This TV series is a mix of Bible-like stories (The Prodigal Son, Cain and Abel, etc.), Chinese costume dramas, Alchemy, Swordsplay, Kung-Fu, and a lot of good sceneries in China that makes you feel you get your money's worth because of the production. Shu Qi plays as the prettiest, best-trained, and most sympathetic assassin, who also happens to be the object of almost every man in the TV series (as expected, which was disappointing as she's always typecast to this role), but is also the most clever.

The TV series is a healthy mix of history, action, betrayal, and love story. As for the English subtitles, with the exception of a few forgivable spelling (well, except for the "trailer" spelling error on the main menu of the DVD) and some grammatical errors, it has been a breeze watching this series with English subtitles -- the discs are better than expected.

I'll watch the rest of the discs and give my final verdict afterwards.
