The 1998 TVB drama series Rural Hero stars audience favorites Roger Kwok, Jackie Lui, and Jessica Hester Hsuan, with a strong supporting cast including Miss Hong Kong winners Chillie Poon and Fiona Yuen.

The 20-episode series tells the story of Chung (Jackie Lui), a Special Duty Unit officer who is relocated to a small isle on the outskirts of Hong Kong to nurse an injury. The elite force agent feels trapped and frustrated, and has numerous conflicts with his new colleagues and the residents. Just when he begins to settle into his new environment, the peaceful life on the isle is interrupted by a series of crime cases that may involve his new friends Sum (Jessica Hester Hsuan) and Shun (Roger Kwok)...

Product Information

Special Duties Unit Officer Chung (Jackie Lui) was wounded in an operation and was transferred to Peng Chau to nurse his injury. He was very annoyed by the laziness of his new partners Kei (Li Lung Kay), Wai (Edward Mok) and Fai (Tseung Hak) in Peng Chau. He also clashed with villagers and could not fit in. Luckily, he got acquainted with restaurant owner Yuk (Wong Hoi Yan). However he did not know Yuk was actually his mother. With the help of his grandmother Wan (Law Lan), mother and son finally reconciled.

Chung also met a girl called Chi (Poon Chillie) and fell in love. However, they broke up very soon. Not long afterwards, Chung started a new relationship with Sum ( Hsuan Jessica Hester ). He also became a good friend of Shun (Kwok Chun On).

To his surprise, it turned out that Shun was a runaway criminal. IN the end, Shun decided to turn himself in. Then Kam (Yuen Choi Wan Fiona), a girl who would do everything for Chung, showed up...
