Olivia is back with the follow-up to her 2006 single Wish/Starless Night, which reached #7 on the Oricon charts during its release. For Sailing free the multi-talented artist collaborates with Inoran to compose an emotional song marked by Olivia's high-pitched vocals and solid guitar work. Co-written by Olivia and Kawamura Masumi, Sailing free can be heard as the theme song for the PSP game Sengoku Basara Battle Heroes. Love Love Love and Undress are also featured as side tracks on this single release.
This edition comes with a DVD featuring the music video of Sailing free (Olivia version) and "Olivia Original Movie" plus other video footage.

OLIVIA - Sailing free

When I first heard "Sailing free", I preordered. It is a rock song with that unique touch only OLIVIA can bring into her music. The single comes with two B-sides, "Love Love Love" and "Undress", but the song that really shines here is the A-side. I recieved an unscratched, well bubble-wrapped copy, and I was amazed at how beautiful the cover was. Opening it, the color theme was the same; it also came with a big sticker featuring OLIVIA's "critter art" -so adorable! Love Love Love is a ballad/rock song that is sad and somewhat heartbreaking, while at the same time being uplifting and just really, really good. I've played this one even more now than "Sailing free". "Undress" is the song on this single that I don't really care that much for. It is generic, and boring and OLIVIA's vocals are somewhat odd. All that being said; if you are a fan of good J-pop, buy this single. OLIVIA is a very interesting and creative artist, and her music always feels fresh and new. |
