近年電視偶像劇興起，2002年他再度出馬與自己的兒子蔡岳勳合作，製作偶像劇「名揚四海」及「第8號當鋪」。
風塵女郎秋香因父嗜酒，債台高築。某日雨夜流氓伺機戲謔，適青年實業家李世宏偕妻英美路過，秋香因而獲救，世宏憐其身世遂收為女傭，世宏因公赴泰國，囑家傭阿忠秋香照料英美，世宏不幸在泰為歹徒誣害入獄，未久英美生一女惠珠。七年後，李家財產因被奸人奪取，故秋香等一行人只好出走，英美淪為舞女，世宏被釋返台身無分文，到處尋覓妻兒，巧遇秋香，泰警方查出真相並歸還世宏原有財產，世宏重建基業，英美內疚無顏見家人，遂出家為尼。
