Originally a part of the China-Korea omnibus co-production Chengdu, I Love You, Hur Jin Ho's Season of Good Rain (a.k.a. A Good Rain Knows) turned into a full-length feature about a second chance for love in Chengdu, China. Korean star Jung Woo Sung (The Good, The Bad, The Weird) and Chinese actress Gao Yuanyuan (City of Life and Death) play a Korean architect and Chinese tour guide who met each other as students in America, but parted ways without ever confessing their feeling to each other. Years later, they cross paths again in Chengdu, and rekindle the romance they once let pass by.
From One Fine Spring Day to Happiness, music has played an important role in Hur Jin Ho's films. He teams up with Maundy Thursday amd Failan music director Lee Jae Jin for his latest Season of Good Rain. The score uses acoustic guitar to bring out the themes of love and sorrow.

그녀와 그의 사랑이 아련한 음색으로 들려오는 호우시절 O.S.T
영화음악이 다른 장르와 비교되는 그 만의 매력에는 "테마음악"이라는 것이 있을 것이다. 주인공의 이름에서 따 온 '누구의 테마'이거나, 상황을 제목에 붙인 '슬픔의 테마' 혹은 '사랑의 테마' 등이 그것이다. 이 테마음악들은 각각 고유한 선율을 가지고 있어서 영화 진행 상 해당하는 인물이나 상황이 표현될 때 반복적으로 그 멜로디를 사용하여 영화의 이야기, 주제나 흐름을 일관성 있게 정리하고 묶어주는 역할을 한다.
<호우시절>에는 이와 같은 선율적인 테마음악이 없다. 애초 <호우시절>의 첫 편집본을 받아 보았을 때부터 내 귓속엔 어쿠스틱 기타의 아련한 음색이 들려 왔다. <호우시절>에서는 기타가 그 "테마" 역할을 해 주기 바랬다.
그것도 나일론 현의 클래식 기타가 아닌, 철줄의 어쿠스틱 기타. 뜨거운 가슴을 이성적인 머리가 냉정을 찾게 하는 것처럼 차가운 철줄로 울림통을 울려 멜로디를 만들어 내는 어쿠스틱 기타를 하나의 테마처럼 사용하고 싶었다.
기대하지 못했던 허진호감독님과의 만남, 그리고 작업하는 동안, 내가 동하가 되고 메이가 되어, 아파하고, 감동받았고, 그래서 음악 작업으로 갖게 되는 고통이 곧 나의 치유의 과정이 되었다. 마치 '때를 알고 내리는 좋은 비' 처럼…
