Three years after beloved K-pop quartet S#arp's highly publicized breakup in 2002, Seo Ji Young burst into the pop scene minus her posse and signature snaggle tooth with the cute number Hey Boy from her solo album Listen To My Heart. Now Seo Ji Young is back at the top of her game with Seo Ji Young Special, projecting a profound maturity in this special follow-up album.

Seo Ji Young Special is comprised of four cover songs, two instrumental songs, and six tracks from her two previous albums. The covers include Kim Gun Mo's "A Certain Longing" (Track 4), Park Jin Young's "Summer Jingle Bell" (Track 2), Turbo's "Reflection" (Track 3), and Weather Report's "A Doll's Dream" (Track 1). The singer presents her own interpretation of "A Doll's Dream" in Bossa Nova style to fit the sentiments of the autumn season. Composers Lee Joon Yup and Lee Min Soo, both of whom previously worked with mainstream artists like Brown Eyed Girls, Girl Friends, and Ran, collaborated in arranging and composing all of the remakes in Seo Ji Young Special.

발랄한 소녀에서 차분한 여인으로 돌아온 서지영

2007년 2월 HEY BOY라는 곡으로 귀여움에 섹시함을 더해 뭇 남성들을 설레게 했던 서지영이 분위기를 한껏 낸 가을여인으로 돌아왔다.

서지영 SPECIAL이라는 앨범 제목에서 보여지듯이 앨범 전체의 구성은 REMAKE곡 4곡과 기존곡 6곡, INSTRUMENT 2곡으로 총 12곡이 수록되어있다. 김건모의 [어떤 기다림],박진영의 [썸머 징글벨],터보의 [회상], 그리고 타이틀 곡인 일기예보의 [인형의 꿈]이 서지영 스타일로 리메이크 되었다. 여기서 타이틀 곡인 [인형의 꿈]은 보사노바풍으로 재해석하여 부르게 된 서지영은 “보사노바는 처음 시도하는 장르인데 S#arp때부터 같이 작업했던 정성헌 프로듀서 오빠가 너무 많이 도와주셔서 노래하기 편했어요..” 라며 “이 노래로 올 가을엔 분위기 있게 팬 여러분들에게 다가갈래요..”라면서 방긋 웃어주었다. REMAKE곡4곡의 편곡은 요즘 브라운 아이드 걸스, 걸 프렌즈, RAN등의 앨범에서 많은 활동을 한 작곡가 이민수와 편곡가 이준엽이 하였다. 기존 곡 6곡에는 1집,2집에서 숨어있기엔 너무 아쉬웠던 노래들을 다시 꺼내었다. 날이 점점 쌀쌀해지는 가을.. 이때에 소녀에서 성숙한 여인으로 변신을 한 서지영의 매력에 한껏 취해보자..
