In the involving 1974 melodrama drama, Sex, Love And Hate, famed Shaw Brothers director Chu Yuan spins three interconnected tales about a trio of Hong Kong women, their relationships, and their hopes for finding true love. In the first story, a poor girl named Yao Yao (Xu Feng, from Legend Of The Mountain) falls for Li Ji (Zong Hua, from Call To Arms), a young man who hails from a marginally poor background as well. Unfortunately, her family believes they can use Yao Yao's undeniable beauty to attract the attention of a rich man - the idea being that if she marries someone of a high station, it'll pull not only Yao Yao out of poverty, but bring her family out of it as well! Angered by her family's interference, she runs away from home and takes on a job as a night club hostess, while her beau Li Ji works even harder to get enough money to support Li Ji. But will their love survive this struggle? Or will Yao Yao give in to her family's wishes?

The second tale centers on Bai Mei (the exotic Lily Ho, from Intimate Confessions Of A Chinese Courtesan) who has no problem using her beauty to manipulate men into getting her the finer things in life. However, one fateful day, she meets up with Lu Jun (Ngok Wah, from Come Drink With Me) and falls head over heels in love with him. But considering her past history, one wonders if Bai Mei's rampant materialism will get the better of her and spoil her new relationship. And rounding out this trilogy of stories, there's the tale of Zhu Dai (Ching Li, from When The Clouds Roll By), a beautiful airline stewardess who has just gotten out of an affair with a married pilot. But just as she's about to give up on love, a strange twist of fate puts her right back in the midst of things. One day, she has problems with her car, and a handsome stranger just so happens to fix her engine, a chivalrous move that results in the two ending up on a date together. As she gets to know him, she finds out that her knight in shining armor is a famous race car driver named Du Zhi Chao (Ling Yun, from Heroes of the Underground). Soon enough, she finds herself falling for her new man, but will a terrible accident on the raceway prove fatal for their newfound love?
