Full of Nice (Old and New) photos
| I like this book mainly because of the appeal of the wonderful Shaw stars. This book has a lot of beautiful movie photos and portraits of the 22 selected Shaw celebrities (a few of them are "stars" but are not actually actors, like Hollywood famous director John Woo and famous Chinese writer Chua Lam). Moreover, there are also recent pictures of them, mostly taken with the author herself who has presented each star with their achievements as well as how she perceives them from her perspective, and own experience with them. I think is a book that will satisfy both the original Shaw fans who are longing to know the updated news about their idols as well as today's young audience who had not known of those Shaw stars before but are interested in knowing more about the heritage of the Hong Kong film industry. |
