A spin-off to Shin Sangoku Musou 5, Empires incorporates elements of war strategy games into the melee-fighting gameplay through a strategy card system, giving the game another fun and challenging aspect. The game features a new Souha Mode where, besides fighting for dominance as monarchs like before, the player can now assume the role of a general too, who can even change allegiances during the game! An enhanced Edit Mode allows the player to create his or her own original characters to join the fray. What's more, Empires sees the addition of a playable character (the barbaric king Mou Kaku), new combat moves, and several new stages to enrich the gaming experience!
