2004年4月からテレビ東京系列で放送された、時代物の格闘アニメーション。本作は格闘コミック界の第一人者である川原正敏の人気コミック「修羅の門」の外伝的な物語で、幻の武術"陸奥圓明流"を継ぐ者たちと、歴史上の人物たちが織り成すリアルな格闘伝になっている。シリーズ構成は、ウルトラマン・シリーズなどの特撮ものや数々のTVアニメを手がけてきた武上純希が担当している。映像特典として、ノンテロップOP＆EDなどが収録されている。
龍馬はおりょうと出海を伴い、薩摩霧島山温泉へ、養生を兼ねた新婚旅行へ出かけた。霧島山に登り、神が地面に刺したという天の逆鉾を抜いてしまうなどして、遊山を楽しむ龍馬たち。一方、長州はここ数年の不作で米不足に陥っていた薩摩に、龍馬を通して五百石もの米を送ろうとしていた。だが薩摩の西郷隆盛は、幕府との対決が迫っている長州こそ米が必要だと、その米を受け取ろうとせず…。
