It took one single stage performance from Smash, K-pop's new boy band sensation, for the music enthusiasts to start spreading news about their newfound discovery. And not a moment too soon - Smash now takes the center stage with the release of their first mini album. Though they are just starting out, the five-member Smash collaborates with an impressive team of musicians on their new album, including composers Richard Anderson, Bryan Todd, and Thomas Ahlstrand, who previously worked with artists like Westlife, Celine Dion, and Britney Spears. Hoping to set themselves apart from other idol bands, Smash demonstrates their musical versatility by covering a wide range of musical genres. A great inspirational song for young dreamers, the principal track Bi sang (Track 2) is a sophisticated pop dance number that speaks passionately of reaching for the stars. Offering a total contrast in style is the following track Nur ro bo in da (Track 3), a soulful R&B ballad featuring a blockbuster scale music video directed by previous Big Bang collaborator Hwang Jun Young.

단 한번의 단독 무대만 선보였다. 딱 한 번의 노래만 공개했다. 티엔의 6인조 신인 그룹 스매쉬에 대해서 공개된 것은 이것뿐. 그러나 이 무대가 스매쉬에 대한 소문과 폭발적인 반응과 관심으로 이어졌다. 입소문을 타기 시작한 스매쉬의 인기는 팬들의 결집력을 만들었으며, 그들은 이미 스매쉬가 있는 곳을 향해 함께 가고 있다. 하지만 이제 본격적인 활동을 시작할 스매쉬에게는 이것은 단지 시작일 뿐이다. 스매쉬는 신인으로는 드물게 화려한 스탭들의 구성으로 앨범 작업을 완성하였다. 8월에 발표되는 스매쉬의 첫번째 미니앨범은 그래미어워드 수상에 빛나는 작곡가 ‘리차드 앤더슨(Richard Abderson)’을 비롯하여 웨스트라이프, 셀린디옹, 브리트니스피어스 등 해외 팝스타들의 앨범 작업에 참여한 스웨덴 최고의 작곡가 ‘토마스 알스트랜드(Thomas Ahlstrand)’, ‘브라이언 토드(Bryan Todd)’등 이름만으로도 빛을 발하는 명품 작사, 작곡가들이 함께하여 그들의 음악적 무게를 한껏 끌어올려 주었다. 또한 이들의 앨범은 여느 아이돌의 음악이라 믿기 어려울 정도의 다양함을 담고 있다. 타이틀 곡 <비상(飛上)>은 세련된 팝댄스 곡으로 열정을 가지고 꿈을 향해 소리치자는 가삿말로 이시대의 청소년들의 마음을 대변할 곡이 될 것이다. 이밖에도 R&B 발라드 <너로 보인다>는 이들이 단순히 보여주기 위해 만들어진 기획성 아이돌 그룹이 아님을 증명해 주는 곡이기도 한다. 거액을 투입한 뮤직비디오는 에반과 빅뱅뮤직비디오로 유명한 황준영 감독이 연출했다. SMASH!! 샤방샤방한 아이돌은 탈피, 남성미로 2008년 하반기 가요계에 새로운 아이콘으로 우뚝 설 것이다.
