Amazing return for Howard Shore
|
Howard Shores latest is a massive orchestral score, with the distinctly awesome choir (divided in 2 parts, one female and another imposingly deep-sounding and grand male choir), loud and dense brass / percussion sections along with a grand-sounding organ, but also Theremin and Shakuhachi. Completed by the kind of epic, dark and awe-inspiring themes we all came to love in his magnificent scores for THE LORD OF THE RINGS. Rest includes distinct Asian musical influences, some THE AVIATOR references and charmingly severe dissonance, in the vein of his THE CELL score. The overall result is masterful, bold, dashing, sensational and particularly exciting. Be sure not to miss one of the best scores of this year so far. Performed by the National Philharmonic of Russia and Academy of Choral Arts. |
