　　清光緒六年，醫藥世家白府與官宦世家詹府，由於詹府的大格格一對私生子女的糾紛而結下深仇。百年老號『百草廳』老藥鋪，在宮廷鬥爭中，陷入絕境。後經白府二兒媳白文氏費盡心機，終使白府復興，並成為白府的權威、當家人；白文氏兒子白景琦長大成人後與仇家詹府的私生女黃春私訂終身。1900年八國聯軍入侵，景琦挾妻黃春闖蕩到濟南，發奮圖強，創下一番事業；1911年清朝覆滅，大宅門在軍閥混戰中日漸沒落。白家子女不肖，景琦之子白敬業揮霍無度，白文氏苦苦支撐，為子女一一安排好了後路，離開人世。九一八事變後，東北藥材禁運，老字號『百草廳』斷了貨源，面臨危機。七七蘆溝橋事變，景琦長孫白占元參加共產黨抗日組織，白府成了侵略軍注意的焦點。景琦拒絕與日軍合作，至此，白家大宅門捲入了轟轟烈烈的抗日洪流中。
