HKFA Best Actor Lau Ching Wan and lovely actress Athena Chu team up for this Wong Jing horror comedy. Written, produced, and co-directed by the prolific filmmaker in 1998, Step into the Dark follows the famous surgeon Dr. Kwan (Lau Ching Wan) as he saves a girl named Faith (Athena Chu) who has fallen from a building, and the two soon fall in love with each other. Bitter at being dumped, Dr. Kwan's ex-girlfriend May stalks her romantic rival, and is shocked to find that Faith and her family are actually ghosts who were killed by a criminal gang...

Accompanying Lau and Chu on their foray into the dark, and stealing shows every second of their screen time are a colorful supporting cast made up of Helena Law, Wong Ha Wai, Simon Lui, Cheung Kam Ching, TVB actors Joe Ma, and Ma Tai Lo who plays the jealous May.
