YesAsia Editorial Description
A new Eastern film wave set in ancient times is on the rise after Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon, Musa the Warrior, and Hero, Sword in the Moon offers viewers more sensational martial arts battles that will make you long for more...
The epic tale revolves around the two elite warriors Ji-hwan and Kyu-yup who turn from loyal friends to defenders of different parties. Both pursuing the goal to aid the poor and oppressed, the former companions are led by fate to a duel over life and death that only one of them can walk away from as lone victor. Rich in opulent shots and powerful aesthetic martial arts fights, Sword in the Moon was one of the hailed audience favorites at the Cannes Film Festival.
Director Kim Ui-seok is known for films like Holiday in Seoul and I'm a man with a gun. For Sword in the Moon he teamed up Cho Jae-hyun (Bad Guy) and Choi Min-soo (Story of Man) to craft a stunning silver screen hit quite unlike his earlier works.

| Beautifully done but it felt like the director was trying to be so artistic that it took away from the story & even the depth of the characters themselves. You finish the movie with a furrowed brow, a touch of confusion, a shrug & maybe a huff of disappointment. I didn't mark anything significant with the swordplay either other than the semi magnitude of the two opposing parties. However, not even the flashback of how the two characters started as brothers didn't make an impact on the connection audiences should have felt for them. Overall, disappointing for the quality of film. |

Was it the same movie, what ballet type sword fights? This movie was horrible, it had no real plot. Very hoaky. One of the worse martial arts movies I have seen in many years. Shallow philosophy, predictable sequences, no real Swordsmanship. Don't waste your money. |

| This is actually a very well made movie. Its not the dvd quality that is bad, your dvd player/vcr or whatever you hook it up with is messin up the lighting, trust me i have the same problem on a few DVDs. Anyways, action scenes are pretty good, its when you get to the end that it all makes sense and makes the movie worth watching. Ending is kinda wierd tho... very "unfinished" |
