The prequel to Royal Tramp (AKA Duke of Mt Deer)
| This may not have been meant as a prequel to Royal Tramp, however some of the same characters do find their way from this story into that story so if you are a Jin Yong fan and loved Royal Tramp then watch it. You won't regret it. All the female leads are beautiful and elegant. The martial arts are very relevant and clearly front and center throughout the whole story. I bought this from Yesasia and this version had both Cantonese and Mandarin with Chinese and English subtitles. Very well worth the purchase. |

GREAT MOVIE! Now I am going to read the book! Don't tell my friends or they will groan and say, "Not another Wuxia Movie/Book that we have to hear about!". [I jut got off a Condor Hero Trilogy craze. : )] Anyway I am on episode 24 and I am so excited. I can't wait to see what happens! I really am interested in the Chinese History! This movie is almost as good as The Smiling Proud Wanderer. The book anyway I haven't seen the movie yet. I am going to see it next. My favorite character is Bamboo Cheng. My second favorite is Greeny aka Qing Qing. Sorry if I spelled it wrong. Greeny is too whiny but she is also funny and mischievous. BUY IT!!! -Xiang P.S. The Smiling Proud Wanderer movie adaptation is called Laughing in the Wind. |

Sword Stained With Royal Blood
| The fighting scenes are really worth watching and the character portrayed by Bobby Dou and Eva Huang as Yuan and Qingqing is to me the perfect pair and I wait eagerly for the remaining episodes. |

This movie sounds interesting, but it needs to have English sub-title for those who cannot understand Chinese. i'm looking forward to the English sub-title version. |

This is an excellent adaptation of the novel by Jinyong. I'm not sure why a previous reviewer keeps insisting that this adaptation isn't as faithful as the TVB adaptation. Perhaps he was talking about the 1986 version which I have not seen but the 2000 TVB adaptation was atrocious and was an extremely unfaithful adaptation of the novel. This Mainland adaptation follows the 3rd revision done by Jinyong and so there will be some parts that may seem unfaithful to the novel if you've only read the first and second additons of the novel. Zhang Ji Chung's adaptation is far from perfect but where it succeeds is in it's high production values, its well staged and imaginative fight scenes, it's tight storyline and that the cast was well casted. Also, I disagree with some of the previous reviewers regarding Zhang's adaptation of the Condor Heroes. His version wasn't half bad. His version has, IMO, the most interesting Huang Rong to date simply because Zhou Xun's portrayal of her is more "xie" than the previous small screen Huang Rong's who tended to be far more cute than "xie". While I like all the Huang Rong's I've seen on screen, Zhou Xun's does stand out simply because it is really more different and IMO more accurate than previous Huang Rongs. Anyway, I digress. Back to Sword Stained With Royal Blood. I wholeheartedly recommend this series. Even if you're not into Mainland series, you might find the nicely staged fight scenes worth the buying price of this series. |

Pretty impressive
Pretty impressive
| I just finished watching this show, and I have to say it was quite addicting. The story itself is nothing original, i mean, more or less same stories about a young hero doing his best to protect his country and avenging the death of his father and whatnot. But the actors did a good job, and the fighting/action was amazing. I highly recommend this show for those lazy lazy afternoons or a long holiday weekend :-) Eva Huang was super cute and Bobby Dou has amazing eyes. It's an entertaining piece for sure. |

Wonderful~
Wonderful~
| I liked this series a lot. There isn't a lot of adaptations of this particular work of Jin yong so it's nice to see one out. I feel its one of the nicer adaptations of "Bi Xue Jian". Though I liked the TVB version as well from a few years back, they totally went off one their own regarding to the story, changing quite a bit of it. This one, however, follows quite close with the book (3rd revised version). Wonderful actors/actresses selection, the acting is superb and fitting with the characters. The fight scenes are one of the nicest I've seen on tv. If you love any of the Jin yong's books, then you really shouldn't miss this one. |
