Real good debut!
For someone looking for a sort of J-rock/pop hybrid, this is definately a great choice. She's a real refreshing young artist that's going the 'artist' route instead of the mere 'idol' route. In this day & age, that's a good thing. I find myself playing this often, especially if I'm driving long distances. It has a rock-based approach that still offers variety from song to song...which makes it perfect for "staying awake" purposes. I'll definately be buying her next album.

Debut Heaven...
Debut Heaven...
If you want to make it big in music...this is the kind of debut you need to release. A CD that contains a little bit of something for everyone, but is still cohesive enough to flow well and define you as an artist. I think that she has done that. While I don't personally care for the anime-type versions some of the songs remind me of (I prefer a more rock vocalist)...I think that is only part of the CD. There are more pop songs, more rock songs and the rest kind of fall into anime-land. I have to say, that this singer has definitely gotten off onto the correct footing and will unquestionably remain in the fore-front of current Japanese music for quite some time. She seems to really have herself together for one so young and has accomplished great feats already. I have favorites on this CD, but basically, I do wish she'd turn more away from the anime now that she has made a full-fledged solo artist debut. I think her voice is phenomenal and she can shed that skin to produce the rock music that is in her soul. In fact, on some songs...you almost hear her straining to be rock, but the music holds her more into anime. Hopefully, now that she has made her entry, she can soar into the talent she is meant to be. I wish her the best, and at her age...she has time to BE the best. Or at least one of them, anyway! This is something I would recommend more for a specific following than mass audiences. But there is nothing wrong with having a "niche". And she is amazing to have found it so early!

No 'sympathy' needed to listen
Hitomi Takahashi came out of nowhere in 2005 with her smash debut single "Bokutachi no Yukue", which went all the way to number 1 on the Oricon charts. Not many artists can lay claim to having accomplished that feat. Hitomi followed that up with the slower ballad-like "evergreen", which didn't do nearly as well but is perhaps just as strong a song. Her third single, the punky "Aozora no NAMIDA", was a nice return to form for the youngster. Those three singles are included in this, Hitomi's debut album 'sympathy'. The album seems to focus on poppy radio-friendly rock, and I guess that's okay for a first album. But some of the songs could be a bit too poppy for some of the more hardcore rock fans out there. All in all, it's a fun album to listen to if you just want something new from a different artist. Hitomi shows a good deal of promise with her voice, and hopefully she'll come around with an even better album to follow this up.

Solid, but...
I like Hitomi, for a tiny girl she has a mighty voice, but I really hoped that this album would be a little heavier in the rock department. She has such a good rock voice and it seems wasted on Pop-Rock. I hope she has a more defining sound for her next album. Vocals wise, she's very strong and has lots of potential, I just don't really like Pop-Rock that much. The DVD was nice, albeit a bit on the short side. Some extras would have been nice. All in all, a 7 out of 10 isn't bad for a debut album, I'll be looking forward to her new releases in the future.

Welcome A New Princess!
I've heard all of her singles so far, and I must convey just how impressed I am. She comes off as a major singer in their 4th year, not 1st! She has an excellent voice that works perfectly with the music and the videos are even verily charming and cute. The way she's posed on this cover sorta reminds me of Natsumi Abe's Hitori Bocchi album cover; a very sweet and innocent look. Still, I have a feeling that shy, innocent look will change soon into a confident leader of the Japanese music industry. Anyway, my point being is that this is a wonderful album to own and I encourage all J-Pop and Anime fans to buy it right away.
