Fearless (2006) (DVD) (Director's Cut) (US Version) DVD Region 1
(1)Our Price: US$16.99List: US$19.98Save: US$2.99 (15%)Usually ships within 7 daysJuly 13, 2008 This is NOT the director's cutWarning! The US DVD of Jet Li's "Fearless" is not the director's cut. Both discs are the exact same thing as the regular DVD out there, despite having such prints on the discs themselves. Wait until Universal Pictures has stated that they have fixed or is fixing the problem. Until then, don't buy this DVD. Did you find this review helpful? Yes (Report This) -

January 8, 2007 Disappointing from FortuneStarWhen I received this DVD of "Twin Dragons," I thought it was going to be a completely remastered version of the film. But it wasn't.
The picture quality is actually a bit worse than the Universe Laser DVD. It's rather dark and less clear. The sound is also in 2.0, which means that the sound effects dominate the music and other noise. Fortune Star really let's us down here. Based on all the other movies they have released in such excellent quality, this is almost inexcusable.
Now of course, their are some good points. This DVD is 16x9 enhanced, so those with widescreen televisions will not be disappointed. This release also comes with original trailers, photo albums and original posters. The English subtitles are also new and improved. The DVD case comes with a reversible cover! On one side, it's all written in Chinese. Flip it over, it's English! There is a DVD holder on both sides inside the box, so you can flip it whichever way you want!
Now, although Fortune Star did not cut out any footage, the feature film on this DVD is 4 minute shorter than Universe Laser's, due to a speed-up issue. It does make the fight scenes more exciting though!Did you find this review helpful? Yes (Report This) -

(1)Our Price: US$13.99Usually ships within 1 to 2 daysNovember 28, 2006 Pristine!I can't believe I get to see a perfectly remastered version of this film after waiting for years! I hope that Joy Sales will do more releases like this! It would be perfect if they could do something like this for "Drunken Master II" and "Police Story IV: First Strike," both movies that are only available on low-quality VCD in their purest form with English subs. Maybe Jackie can even do some more for some of his other great films that still do not have justice done to them on DVD like "Dragon Fist," "Half A Loaf of Kung Fu," "The Protector" (HIS version! Not Tony Jaa's), "Rumble in The Bronx," "Mr. Nice Guy," "Gorgeous," and "The Accidental Spy." Did you find this review helpful? Yes (Report This) -

I recommend you get this DVD as well as the Hong Kong Legends DVD. This Spectrum DVD contains extended action and comic sequences. The HKL DVD has other scenes that give more plot to the film, as well as the fact that its sound is not distorted but picture quality is not the best.Did you find this review helpful? August 1, 2006 A bit disappointingConsidering the fact that this is a fortune star product, I was a bit disappointed when I got it.
Indeed, it is 16x9 enchanced. so those with widescreen TVs will not be disappointed. But I don't think Fortune Star remastered the picture like they usally do. The picture is a bit darker than Universe Lasers and moves as if there are no frames. Although I am pleased that the sound here is in sync with the video, whereas in the UV version, the sound is only a split second out of sync.
And when it comes to sound, it's only Dolby 2.0, Cantonese or Mandarin. No 5.0, so that means that the sound effects are much louder than the music and the background noise.
All-in-all, this DVD is better than Universe Laser's but not much. It's not all it's hyped up to be. The UV version is most likely out of print by now, so you should buy this one. But don't expect the BEST version of this movie ever.Did you find this review helpful? Yes (Report This)
