The pacing is good and the movie draws you in with its music and style of shooting. The actor and actress seemed to really underact in this movie which creates kind of a dull ackward feeling towards the characters. June 14, 2006 so-soI didn't expect much from the film due to low ratings. The story is like a typical internal affair type movie, so nothing new about the story. Shot kinda grimmy, which was pretty awesome Kwon Sang Woo's character and his acting in this movie really messes up the vibe. He overacts throughout the film, and his character is in rage almost every scene he is in which gets kinda tiresome and makes you just want to stop watching the film had it not have yoo ji tae as the other main chacter, who plays his chacter pretty well. Parts in the beginning are way too overacted, but the overacting becomes less as the film goes through with the exception of kwon sang woo, of course. The timing of the jazz scene of the girl singing is off (lips don't match the song she sings) and they never explained about what happened to the tape that was filming the interigation room...could of been a really good movie if they made the ksw's character's better and if he didn't overact the part. June 5, 2006 interesting film
One of Kim Ki-duk's film i really enjoyed...there isn't much dialogue between the two main characters, but liek they say a picture is worth a thousand words. June 5, 2006 all she wanted to do was fly.The movie "blue swallow" is a fairly good story of a woman who wanted to fly and was taught in japan. Though they didn't develope some of the characters through enough so that what they did impacted you more deeply than what you recieved. I would of liked to see more of the struggle that Park Kyung Won goes through as this would make her accomplishments more fulfilling, but towards the end you can't help but to cheer her on and hopes she will make it through to acomplish her goal. Some of the special effects in the movie seemed well, not so real and it took me out of the moment. I can't help but to agree with the professional review by Calvin McMillin . Each frame was essential and if you pay attention you can see that many events that happened to gong gil is symbolic to his puppet plays. I just wished they told us, audiences why Gong Gil and Jang-saeng shared such a bond. The ending is different from the originl play's ending "yi," but still effective leaving you with open thoughts. The characters shine when they perform thier plays and i wished they performed more throughout the film. The movie itself is funny, sad, and suspenseful. A must see film. My only complaints are some costumes did not exist during the time(directer explained that it was just to make the film more vibrant) and a cropt(fan) was from the wrong era. Had this been a bigger budget film with better camera angles and tricks this movie would prob been the BEST of its genre, but we can settle for being the leading movie of its genre :P Did you find this review helpful? It shows issues that we all have faces once or more before, abuse from classmates and/or parents. The beginning of the movie isn't as effective and exciting as the last half, something about the beginning half is lacking. IMO i feel that the movie would be much better if it had a grimmier tone to it and didn't break it with some light humor, but i must say most of the jokes did deliver at the right moment. Kinda didn't like how it took kim yoon jin to get of the car and run...or should i say walk slowly to the body of her son and i guess the idea didn't click on to get the LP number :P Other than that it was a pretty good movie Did you find this review helpful? A well put together movie, the weaker of the 3 trilogy movies, but still very enjoyable. The fad to black and white at the end was a nice conclusion for the film and the trilogy. I guess it would make sense that this film would be less grim for sympathy for mr vengeance was really grim, old boy was int he middle and lady vengeance was least grim.My complaints are: I feel park chan wook over did it with the special effect in the beginning part of the movie making lee young ae looks somewhat unreal and the australian part where the daughter speaks or her foster parent speak ruined the vibe of that particular scene. Thought these are small complants and for the most part don't ruin the movie as a whole, which has a great story. I love how park chan wook always feature actors from his previous hit movies. May 26, 2006 averageThis movie reminded me of hitch. The story was unoriginal uninteresting and for the most part not that funny. The actors did a good job in thier role, but not even the best actors could make this movie any better. I was mad at Jeon Do Yeon's character because what she did to Hwang Jung Min's character and the betrayal and lies she gave him. You feel sorry for Hwang Jung Min's character because all of the sacrifices he made to be with her and how he never stopped loving her. You then feel sad about Jeon Do Yeon's character because of what she goes through. The scene with both characters are at the police station towards the end is moving and you can't help but shed a tear, prob the only powerful scene in the movie imo. I'm a fan of both actors, but the story didn't move me. the movie becomes somewhat good towards the end but the beginning, well lets just say it offers nothing new or anything exciting. Unlike many melodramas which builds up to the climax this movie begins telling you what happens in the end, then it starts with the two characters in high school...supposed they knew eachother since childhood, would of like part to be acted out upon to really get to know where the two characters are coming from. May 25, 2006 korean american pieI enjoyed the movie up till the end. The movie is funny and sickening. Once you get to the later half of the movie where it starts or wants to crossover to a serious mood...it just doesn't do well..it's still likeable, but doesn't belong. you'll feel sorry for im chang jung after this movie from all the abuse he gets but that makes him likeable he's the nice guy of the movie and you'll root him on till the end. a enjoyable film. May 25, 2006 overrated...but goodA little late...finally saw this movie after seeing windstruck to see what was all the hype about. It was a great rom comedy i've seen ina while that made me laugh besides "my little bride." I can see why so many people liked it...but personally i feel that people hyped this movie up too much to the point to make people believe it's flawless or the best movies that came out. Many people say don't compare it with my sassy girl cause it's not like it. I saw this movie before i saw my sassy girl and it's one of those movies that couldn't make up its mind on what genre it wanted to be in. The characters were very underdeveloped things this happened and you're left there feeling no sympathy for anyone. This is like a Park Chan Wook film and knowing him to create great grimmy films you can expect that much with this film.
