'63年10月から'65年5月にかけてフジテレビ系で放映された、巨大ロボットアニメの原点。正太郎少年とともに悪に立ち向かう鉄人の活躍を描いた、横山光輝原作のこの作品は、当時の子供たちをテレビの前にくぎ付けにしたTVアニメ草創期の歴史に残る名作である。
今回は、この名作を装いも新たにDVD-BOX化。「グリコのテーマ」も収録し、当時の雰囲気そのままにパッケージ化した「classic edition」となっている。
正太郎少年は、第二次世界大戦中に旧日本軍が開発した"鉄人28号"の存在を知る。鉄人は解体される予定だったが、その鉄人を悪の組織"PX団"が狙っていた。正太郎少年は、リモコンを使って鉄人を操り、悪に立ち向かうのだった…。
第25話「ドラグネット博士の野心」〜第48話「緑の地獄」の全24話を収録。
