After taking a break for almost two years, Taiwan pop princess Angela Chang returns to the music scene in September 2009 with her long-awaited sixth album. The heart condition that she was diagnosed with soon after the release of her last album Ang5.0 was responsible for the long absence, but following a period of rest and recovery, Angela is now staging a fierce comeback, complete with new looks and new singing styles! She recently recorded a duet with Harlem Yu for the theme song of Zhang Ziyi's comedy Sophie's Revenge. The new album, intriguingly titled The 5th Season, generously offers 10 new songs and their music videos, which includes the first single "White".

Worth the wait Customer Review Rated Bad 10 - 10 out of 10
After the disappointment I call Ang 5.0, I was worried that Angela would return with an album as weak or weaker than it. Fortunately, my concerns had disappeared when I heard the first single, "White". From then on, I became more and more anxious to hear what this album would sound like and it did not disappoint in the end.

It's truly difficult to find a favourite on this album. Starting with the ever powerful title track, Angela grabs the listener's attention. Her voice really echoes throughout the song. "White" is by far one of Angela's best ballads. It follows up the powerful sound found in the previous track, but highlights Angela's emotional vocals even more. "See the Furthest Place" is one of those ballads that you hear everywhere in Cpop, but has its way of getting into our playlists. It's a slow, but relaxing song. The fourth song, "Lucky Kiss" is a cute, but refreshing pop song. The use of heavy beats and the repetitive phrase -Wo Ai Ni- makes the song get stuck in your head. "Head Swing" is one of my favourite songs on the album. It's an upbeat and overall just plain fun pop/rock song with the music video just emphasizing this. "Occasionally" is a typical sounding Angela ballad and that's exactly why I like it. It starts slow, but progresses and reaches it peak at the last chorus. It really highlights her high notes. "I Want You" is a total turn from the rest of the album. This dark pop song is certainly the coolest sounding on the album and I have to say, Ang sounds wicked in it. Her voice fits it perfectly. "Emily Looking For Love" is a striking difference from the previous song. This cute pop song isn't one of my favourites, but it helps show off Ang's versatility. "Happier Again" is a very funky pop song. It fuses some interesting and awkward sounding synths together. For some reason, the song gives off a Beatles' feel to it. The final song, "I started a joke" is the only English song on the album and is a cover of the 1968 Bee Gee's song of the same name. Ang definitely puts a nice twist to it and her fluency is inevitable.

Overall, this album was surprisingly refreshing. I was not expecting it to turn out so solid, especially after the rushed Ang 5.0. Unfortunately Angela hasn't had much time to promote this album, but it's perfect for fans who have been waiting for so long for something interesting, unique and just plain new. Recommended for all.

Great Comeback! Customer Review Rated Bad 8 - 8 out of 10
This is a great comback for Angela, who's last album ANG 5.0 is very different from this album. This album is beautifully designed and comes witha wonderful photo book, and lyricsbook. The theme is white and the mysteries of the 5th season. This title song, The Fifth Season, is wonderfully written, it shows the great singing technique and aptitudes Angela has. This is my favorite song in this album, because its start out quite pleasantly and smoothe then evolves into a strikingly strong sensation going into the main chorus displaying the harsh and surprises of the 5th season. *****Then White, (Track 2) follows the mood placed by the first track. It however, is different from the strong emotions, it silently appeals to the deep sensations inside the heart. ***** Then the thrid song, The Furthest Place is a great collaboration between Chen and Yao Lao Shi, the verse 被泼过太冷的雨滴和雪花 更坚持微笑要暖得像太阳 is beautiful and also the favorite verse of Wong Ya Jun (song writer who wrote 17 songs for Angela). This song has its difficultly to protray because ts simple yet needs to show the strong nature. Great job Angela! & the MV for this song is absolutely beautiful with great scenery and filiming technique. The fifth song Yao Bai Tou, is absolutely cute and gives a refreshing feel after you listen to it. The MV and dance for this is adorable! **** One of my other favorite songs in here is the seventh one called Wo Yao Ni De. Firstly because I love the soft drums humming along with the voice of Angela and the distinctive style shines through Angela's voice. ***** Then the 8th song, Searching for Emily, is perfect for her endorsement and is so cute! The quick paced feeling lets you dwell in the sweet flavor. The rockish 9th song, Be More Happy is catchy and takes a couple of times but it gets super fun to listen to. I started a joke, was a surprise to me because I wasn't expecting a English song. But, its perfect. Her English is great (because she lived in Canada for a while) and the song is greatly arranged. **** However, I only gave it a mere 8 because the other songs Lucky Kiss, and Ou Er seemed too typical and lacks the surprising factor to me. But, nevertheless, this album is GREAT! BRAVO ANGELA! This is great and the overall style of the 5th season is wonderful. Totally worth the money!

Angela's new comeback album is wonderful. First is the packaging. The cover as you can plainly see is gorgeous and so is the back cover, which is actually a slip cover which pulls out with a bonus photobook that's 52 pages of amazingly gorgeous pictures of the singer. Then we open up into the rest which has a small booklet (and the disks) which has some more nice pictures. However, this second one is simply the lyrics booklet, but still very very nice. The disks are in proper CD jewel slots like they should be with anything else. Now we come to the songs themselves. There's a good number of ballads on here, but none of them are dull, unoriginal or boring. However, there's also a good mix of fast pace songs as well, which I find Angela manages to balance perfectly from track to track. Her vocals also work really well in both the ballads and the fast pace songs. Another interesting point is that Track 10 "I started a joke" is a cover of some English song, and SURPRISE, her English is excellent performing it. Next and finally is the DVD, which only has 3 MVs on it. Still, they're all very beautiful and well done... and even kinda creative. I give this album a perfect 10! Good Work Angela! Highly Reccomended!
