這部金庸名著的電影版，於1977年由武俠片大導演鮑學禮執導，倪匡編劇，李修賢飾書獃子段譽、恬妮飾女俠木婉清、林珍奇飾鍾靈、江島飾南海鱷神岳蒼龍、思維飾王爺段正淳。改編劇情主要交代《天龍八部》前半部之首卷，大理國王子段譽出宮遊蕩，邂逅兩位同父異母妹妹；段譽本欲娶冷艷絕俗的木婉清為妻，但回國跟父母見面後，卻發生倫理悲劇，衝突間，婉清更遭黃袍人以月光掌擊至重傷，臨終前囑鍾靈照顧段譽……
Pao Hsueh-li, the trusted co-director for several of Chang Cheh's most memorable productions (including The Water Margin), here creates one of his own. A brother who loves books and a sister who loves swords must face a yellow-robed warrior, the Red Python, a sinuous snake-charmer, and a silk-masked beauty (who must kill or wed the first man to see her face) before they can bring peace to their battle-addled family in this special, cliche-smashing production.

Horrible....
| This movie is the worst interpretation of the Jin Yong novel I ever seen. The plot is not that overall interesting and I got say, I never sat over 5 minutes watching this movie. |

battle wizard
| This movie is adapted partially from Jin Yong's novel "Immortal Eight". It focus on the relationship between Mu Wan Ching (played by Tanny) and Duan Yu ( played by Danny Lee), from a loving couple to acknowledgement of sister-brother hood. Pretty interesting plot. |
