Nora Miao is perhaps best remembered for playing second fiddle to Bruce Lee in The Big Boss and Fist of Fury, but she gets top billing in this wuxia pian adventure from 1971. Golden Harvest's answer to Cheng Pei Pei (Come Drink with Me), The Blade Spares None evokes the same stoic swordswoman archetype that would influence Tsui Hark (Dragon Inn), Ang Lee (Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon), and countless other filmmakers.

Miao stars as Ho Li Chun, a ruthless swordswoman whose refusal to leave her opponents standing at the end of a match earns her the nickname "The Blade Spares None." As one of four finalists in a sword fighting exhibition, Li Chun wins the position of bodyguard to Prince Kuei. When one of the sore losers from the competition stages an attack on the prince, Li Chun and her three new comrades go into action - but everything isn't as clear-cut as it seems. Secret missions and hidden agendas are uncovered that may lead Li Chun to the identity of the man who murdered her father years earlier.

外號「刀不留人」的何麗君參加桂王府一年一度的擂臺比賽，與其他三人同為王府所用。陳若愚與唐青雲為義俠，發現每次王府擂臺過後，總會出現大劫案。二人夜探王府，卻身陷王爺的天羅地網。唐身上的寶劍令何與王爺驚訝，何因此決定放走二人。陳氣唐對其隱瞞身世， 二人糾纏之際，發現何跟蹤到此，遂將其擊退。何回府，無意中發現王爺正是其追查已久的孫天塵，孫要何與眾人血劫曹家莊。陳、唐二人在追查王府的過程中，多次與何相遇。唐、何二人漸生感情。何多次對唐「刀下留情」並對其坦承她所查得的事情真相。陳卻不滿何之所為，力阻二人發展。

Ho Li-chun, a pretty but ruthless swordswoman and three challengers are participating in an open tournament at Prince Kuei's Palace. A knight Chen Jo-yu is defeated in the tournament. He flees and later returns with knight Tang Ching-yun who wield a strange sword. They get trapped but Ho deliberately sets both free after seeing Tang's weapon which she recognizes as the same weapon once used by Sun Tien-chen, a foe of the Ho family. She decides to investigate. She finds out Prince Kuei actually is Sun, who killed the real prince years ago and pretended his identity. Ho joins force with Chen and Tang. The trio stay Sun in a desperate confrontation at the palace.
