One of the earliest Hong Kong films to cross over with the Japanese AV world, The Body is Willing is the second film from director David Lai. Making his directorial debut in 1982 with Lonely Fifteen, David Lai would go on to direct minor classics like Sworn Brothers (1987) and Saviour of the Soul (1991), but his early films were mainly graphic works like gore fests Possessed and Possessed II and the 1983 erotica The Body is Willing. In addition to Hong Kong Cinema regulars Kenneth Tsang and Chan Wai Man, the film imports the services of pink film idols Oda Kaoru and Shindo Emi.
