Written and directed by Byambasuren Davaa (The Story of the Weeping Camel), The Cave of the Yellow Dog casts a gentle eye on modern nomadic life on the Mongolian grasslands. The Grand Prix winner at the 2005 Bratislava Film Festival, the film tells a timeless story about the friendship between a young girl and a dog amidst the breathtaking natural landscape of Mongolia. Simple and heartwarming, The Cave of the Yellow Dog celebrates the innocence of childhood and the traditions and lifestyle of Mongolia's nomadic population.

One day, Mongolian girl Nansal (Nansal Batchuluun) finds a small dog in a cave and brings it home. She names it Zochor and thinks of it as her best friend, but Nansal's father (Batchuluun Urjindorj) is worried that the dog's scent will attract wolves. The family can't afford to lose more of their herd to preying wolves, so Nansal's father orders that Zochor be left behind, much to Nansal's distress. When danger falls on the family, however, it is up to Zochor to save the day, just like in the traditional fable about "The Cave of the Yellow Dog".
