Sixth Generation director Li Shaohong pays homage to Alfred Hitchcock with her latest thriller Door. After the dream-like Baober in Love starring Chen Kun and Zhou Xun, Li Shaohong teams up with Chen Kun again in Door in which he stars as a fear-stricken young man. The cast also includes Huang Jue who starred alongside Sammi Cheng in Everlasting Regret. The supernatural elements in Door appears to be particularly controversial in Mainland China as film censorship still disapproves superstition.

Jiang (Chen Kun), Hong (Huang Jue), and Li (Lin Shen) were high school friends. Jiang has been working as an editor since he graduated. Hong, though very sloppy in studying, enjoys much success in his business and acquires the Jiang's publishing company, becoming his new boss. However, Hong is found murdered the next day after visiting Jiang. On the other hand Jiang had always thought that his old classmate Li attempted to rape his girlfriend, but Li suddenly shows up and claims innocence. All these happenings are driving Jiang crazy, and he starts to hear eerie sounds behind the doors in a terrible dream - or is it reality?

　　青年編輯蔣中天同時遭遇失戀和失業的痛苦。青梅竹馬的女友文馨突然失蹤；情敵洪原買下出版社；曾經對文馨強姦未遂的仇人李作文突然出現，令將中天陷入崩潰邊緣。更讓他震驚的是洪原到蔣中天家拜訪的次日竟在辦公室被人暗殺！公安局將將中天列入懷疑對象。蔣中天一直在家裝修，不在案發現場的事實只有鄰居老常可以作證。但是因牆面滲水，蔣中天到樓上察看時，竟發現老常是臥底監視自己行蹤的警察！
