Director: Don Taylor
The time is now. The place is aboard the U.S.S. Nimitz, America's mightiest nuclear-powered aircraft carrier on maneuvers in the Pacific Ocean. Suddenly, a freak electrical storm engulfs the ship and triggers the impossible: The Nimitz is hurtled back in time to December 6, 1941, mere hours before the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor. As the enemy fleet speeds towards Hawaii, the warship's Captain (Kirk Douglas), a Defense Department expert (Martin Sheen), a maverick Air Wing Commander (James Farentino) and a desperate Senator in the Roosevelt administration (Charles Durning) must choose between the unthinkable. Do they allow the Japanese to complete their murderous invasion or launch a massive counter-strike that will forever change the course of history?

Coming down to it, it's just violence porn.

Even though the poster makes the series look exciting and cool, reality is far from it. This series is pretty much entirely dedicated to the character Li Shi Shi (played by Liu Tao). It might as well have been titled "The Torture of Li Shi Shi." Her acting in this series is TERRIBLE, and she looked really out of place in the drama. As for the "main character"... what have they done to the beloved story of Water Margin? Yan Qing is an incredible pansy that has no brains. We never get to see him in Liangshan in this series - he only joins it at the very end. Instead, the majority of the series shows him being tricked by bad guys left and right and pining for Li Shi Shi. The worst part about this series, though, was the fixation on seeing Liu Tao in pain.It goes into the realm of being a fetish for the director or something. She's constantly. being. tortured. It's just sick. I'm not kidding when I say there's whipping, candle wax on feet torture, breaking fingers torture, and even a makeshift ABORTION. What in the world director. You should've put THAT on the cover and seen if anyone would get this series. |

i like wuxia stories, romantic stories i like too, this one has both, but alota politics, but even if you like politics, it is not full-blown politics, and sometimes it is REALLY draggy, like most of the time... i hate people who see one girl and like one girl, so i didn't really like the main character... fighting sometimes get really fake, especially near the end, you see people practising kungfu in the background, it was just hilarious! storyline compared to jing rong's is FAR FAR off! but compared to the nowadays wuxia story created by many people, like six-finger devil, it's still okay. but seriously, story doesn't pick up until the last couple of episodes, so i suggest you not watch it. |

considering how big Ning Jing's picture is on the picture, she barely appeared and when she did she seem quite ackward in her role. The main actors are great, they fitted their roles perfectly. The King really did give the sense of someone being above all else, he's slow movements show his high status. The main actor had some great kung fu moves, i wonder does he know kung fu for real? He really pulled off the liveliness of his character then later the grief. a very versetile actor, even if he is not good looking. the downfall to the film would be the leading ladies, Ning Jing was already bad, the main actress was worse. For being a great martial artist she didn't give the aura or acted like one. She was too tall and looked out of place in the set, her acting was raw and she couldn't cry properly. The supporting actresses were not much better, they either try to act too cute or couldn't bring their character to life. The plot was overused and had relatively no exciting moments. |
