Astonishing...
Astonishing...
| I hesitated to purchase this release, because although I LOVED "Seven" by her, it was a bit heavy for my tastes. WOW. This CD is NOTHING like "Seven", except for the perfect and amazing vocal ability of the singer. I think the first track is probably one of the most romantic, passionate songs I have heard in quite some time! It's simply amazing. The second track sounds a little bit like disco, but is still quite enjoyable. The third track is basic pop and nice in it's own way...it features a lovely horn solo here and there that is unexpected for this artist. Her vocals on it are probably some of the strongest on the CD and nothing short of magnificent. Track 4 is a blissful ballad that stays with you long after it ends because of it's haunting beauty both lyrically and vocally. Track 5 is pure, fun pop and totally enjoyable. While this is the most jazz on the CD (I disagree with the earlier reviewer who classed this entire CD as jazz...it is NOT a jazz CD...there are only some elements of jazz on here. PLEASE don't think this entire CD is jazz. It is not jazz. Even this track, while the MOST jazzy is not jazz...it picks up half-way through with a pop refrain that is infectious. I LOVE this track for it's versatility. Track 6 also seems to have elements of jazz, but isn't solid jazz because it's almost a dance tune. Very nice rythmn on it and her voice is deeper and more sultry on this track than any other on this CD. Nice chorus featured on this song too. Track 7 is a plain ballad and features a spectacular piano backdrop for the fluid vocals. On this track, like none of the others the singer REALLY demonstrates her amazing vocal range. She truly can sing ANYTHING and make it sound perfect. I adore this song because of the piano and sincere lyrics...I also like all the differences in her vocal range on this song. It's very unique. The CD ends with another stirring ballad. WOW. Is this CD different from "Seven", while being powerful and showcasing the singer's outstanding talent. I am so glad I took the chance and bought this. It's magnificent and has something on it for everyone: pop (tracks 3, 4 and 7), dance (track 6), jazz (tracks 2 and 5), ballads (tracks 1 and 8). All in all, a brilliant release and perfect showcase of an artist who honestly has no vocal boundaries. BUY THIS CD and prepare to be blown away! |

Beautiful
| Nanase really threw a curve ball on this album. Nanase trades in her rock melodies for smooth jazz...and it really works. This album brings out a whole different side to Nanase. The lyrics and the music on all the songs are wonderful. There is not a track on this album that I don't enjoy. Stand out tracks on this album include "Riaru na Yume", "Donmai-Donmai", and "I LOVE YOU". This is diffently a must have. This album is gorgeous. It proves that Nanase is a versitile artist and one of the best that Japan has to offer. |
