The Gold Hunter (VCD) (Hong Kong Version) VCD

This Jackie Chan-produced kung fu comedy vehicle from 1981 marks the directorial debut of his frequent collaborator Fung Hak On (Police Story, Miracles), one of martial arts cinema's perennial screen baddies. Fellow recurring villain Lee Hoi San (Magnificent Butcher), all-around renaissance man Wu Ma (A Chinese Ghost Story), and Lau Kar Yung (Leung's nephew) share the screen with their director in The Gold Hunters, a tale of three good-for-nothings who become witless pawns in a scheme to steal a shipment of gold bullion. A mix of caper comedy and martial arts mayhem, The Gold Hunters anticipates Chan's buddy Sammo Hung's later classics Winners and Sinners and Millionaire's Express.

Li, Tong, and Ma work menial jobs but dream of striking it rich - although not by any honest means. The golden opportunity they've been waiting for finally presents itself when the three friends get wind of a gold bullion shipment scheduled to pass through town. They decide to stage a daring highway robbery, unaware that the commandant in charge of transporting the gold has set the whole thing up. The scheming captain plans to make off with the treasure himself in the resulting chaos, but he fails to take into account the boys' ineptitude!

Three sworn brothers – Coolie Li, Burglar Tong and Waiter Ma - dream of getting rich overnight. One day, Ma calls in Li and Tong to help in the restaurant as Commandant Wang's son Jack is throwing a big party in honor of the director of transports. The three overhear a conversation: the director is sending a gold convoy out of town. They decide to stage a highway robbery. Commandant Wang actually has stolen the gold. He plans to have the convoy robbed and the director killed. So he readily lets the three get the loot. But when the three fail to kill the director, Wang has to do the killing himself......
