Excellent package, but...
|
Yes, the movie is all that: just a little bit of the monster, more enphasis on the familiar drama (Cloverfield anyone?), great cast and a story that kind of drags during the second half - plus the most innacurate use of Agent Orange on a movie, but that's to be expected (well, if you can accept that chemicals dumped into the Han River gave birth to a nesting monster, you can believe ANYTHING). This special edition is a marvel to be seen, but there is a SERIOUS catch: you better hone your korean-speaking skills, cause none, and I mean NONE of the extras are subtitled in English! |

HELLO HOLLYWOOD
HELLO HOLLYWOOD
| This movie has loopholes. but after you get past them, you would realize that this is almost as good as what you see in hollywood films. The thriller and the science-fiction all held this film together. Try see this. |

Just OK
| The first half was good. The 2nd half was terrible. Why didn't the govt go out to look for the creature. Why was the family treated as a criminal? Shouldn't the creature be the main target? Bad plot toward the end of the movie. |

Good Monster Action
|
A surprisingly good monster film. Very good style, story and acting. The monster looked a bit fake at times, but that's no big deal. Overall, definately as good as people say. |

The Host
|
Pretty cool movie... i liked how the dysfunctional family progressed into a functional family at the end due to tragedy. Some funny parts, sad parts..but mostly entertaining parts. The monster also looked good, a good portrayal. The second half of the movie dragged slightly in some parts but other than that it was well done and well acted. 8/10. |

Great film
| Saw this film the other night in the UK. It's great fun - but sadly this DVD release has only Japanese subtitles which is why I won't be buying it. |

Amazing movie!!!!
| Wow!! I just saw this movie in the New York film festival and it blew me away. It is definitely the best monster movie ever. It has everything, suspense, humor, sadness, and the value of family. Highly recommended. Can't wait to see it again!!!! Don't miss this!!! |

A pretty good film :)
A pretty good film :)
| Wow the cover of this dvd makes this movie look really bad and cheap. But actually it was a big movie in korean theatres and people seemed to love it. The synopsis makes the main character (song kang ho) seem like a total loser guy, but he's not that bad. He's very funny and he provides most of the comical aspects of this movie. Also, it is not cheaply made....everything looks cinematographically good...well, the monster looks obviously fake, but it's not that bad. The movie is hilarious, also sad at times, and the ending will surprise you. "The Host" is a wierd English name for it, but in Korea it was called "Gwe-mul" like water monster or something. |
