Despite the relatively low rating, perhaps due to the tragic nature of the drama, the 1994 TVB drama The Intangible Truth received a lot of favorable comments from viewers when it was broadcast in 1994. Interesting enough, the leads of The Intangible Truth, Roger Kwok and Sheren Tang, later became extremely popular with Square Pegs and War and Beauty respectively. Co-starring Esther Kwan, Alex Fong, Law Lok Lam, So Hang Shuen, Liu Kai Chi, etc, The Intangible Truth offers a touching story which actually deserves a much higher rating than it actually attained.

Viewers comment it as an underrated high quality production, with a touching and serious story. Ma Hoi's (Roger Kwok) ruthless father (Law Lok Lam) manipulates Hoi's mother (So Hang Shuen) and sister (Sheren Tang) to engage in drug trafficking. Both Hoi's mother and sister get caught, and the verdicts are life imprisonment and capital punishment. Hoi therefore initiates legal proceedings to save his mother and sister, so that justice can be done. TVB now presents this captivating drama 12 years after its first release. 　　馬海（郭晉安）出生於一個並不圓滿的家庭，父親馬錦超（羅樂林）另有一寵妾林伊媚（陳曼娜），並育有馬洋（方中信）及馬江（吳啟明），三母子常狼狽為奸，迫害大婆陳卿玉（蘇杏璇）一家。

　　馬錦超生意每況愈下，超因一時貪念，竟喪盡天良地利用海一家運毒，此事終於事敗，海姊馬潔（鄧萃雯）被人贓並獲逮捕，而母亦被牽涉入超所犯的縱火殺人案，終於，潔於內地因藏毒罪名被判死刑，即時解赴刑場鎗斃，而母亦被判終身監禁。

　　海獲悉事情真相，悲慟之餘，決要替姊雪冤！還母自由！然而，惡毒的林伊媚一家怎會坐視不理？於是，海又要面對他們不斷地落井下石和打擊。

　　在海最艱苦的時候，一名性格樂觀的女孩子一直支持和幫助他，葉螢影（張延），是海青梅竹馬好友葉蔚（關詠荷）的妹妹，兩人迅即墮入愛河，此事刺激了一直暗戀海的蔚，蔚一時衝動投向馬洋懷抱，結果種下日後連串悲劇。
