Directed by Hsieh Chun, from a script by Chang Cheh, his classic example of "martial chivalry" films marks one of screenwriter Chang's first forays into the genre, and occupies a significant place in the development of the modern kung-fu movie. Young heartthrob Chiao Chuang plays the title character, a swordsman who avenges the murders of six comrades in battle against the notorious monks of the Chao Ching Monastery.

"Knight of Knights" is a keeper! Customer Review Rated Bad 8 - 8 out of 10
I thoroughly enjoyed "Knight of Knights", an adventure film that never seems to take itself too seriously. The martial arts action is practically non-stop, with director Hsieh Chun gleefully showing blood spurting everywhere, arms and legs being hacked off, and a wide array of weaponry inflicting an awesome death toll. However, all that gore is never off-putting; it seems more cartoonish than graphically violent.

King Jing has sent a dastardly band of miscreants to take over Zhaoqing Temple, pretend to be Buddhist monks, and extend the evil King's rule throughout Jinnan. However, the fake monks get totally out of hand, terrorizing the countryside and capturing young women to be their sex slaves. A brotherhood of good-hearted martial artists seek to assault the temple and throw the bums out, but one after another of the good guys are eliminated by the series of traps set by the evil monks.

After his brothers are killed by the evildoers, skilled swordsman Wen Su Chen (Qiao Zhuang) goes undercover as a scholar to gain access to the temple and learn its secrets. There he meets lovely damsel-in-distress Lily Ho and falls in love with her. The infamous scene in which Lily (or, more likely, a body double) disrobes actually is a remarkably chaste and romantic scene between Wen Su Chen and Lily's character, that is accompanied by a huangmei opera-style song.

The film builds to an exciting and effective action-packed climax. Li Jing gets top billing in the film, but has a very small role. You may miss her entirely if you make a trip to the refrigerator! Lily Li, as yet another damsel in distress, gets more screen time and does an appealing job in her tragically heroic role. And Lily Ho makes a big impression with her youthful good looks, whispery voice, and demure sensuality. "Knight of Knights" certainly is not a timeless classic, but it is a lot of fun and is well worth your time. Highly recommended.

'Knights of Knights'(1966) is solid entertainment Customer Review Rated Bad 7 - 7 out of 10
Chiao Chuang is Wen Su Chen, the 'Knight of Knights'. Hsieh Chun directs this swashbuckler wu xia pian film(from a screenplay written by Chang Cheh). An army of bandits living in the Zhaoqing Temple, disguised as monks and led by abbott Minkong, kidnap people on the street and they are suspected of a number of bizarre crimes. When Wen Su Chen's fellow knights are slaughtered near the temple, he conducts an investigation as scholar Wu Shiying(with help from two knights disguised as apprentices). Wen Su Chen, along with help from his allies, try to stop these incorrigible, evil bandits pretending to be monks.
The plot and characters aren't too complex and the filmmakers make no attempts to humanize the bad guys, but this Shaw Brothers-produced film still works. As for Li Ching fans, like myself, she makes a brief appearance as a woman taken hostage by the Zhaoqing monks before Wen Su Chen rescues her; a young Ku Feng appears Carpenter Yan, another of the Zhaoqing monks' hostages. Some else who reviewed this film pointed out that Lily Ho/He Li Li's BMI(body-mass-index)/body fat changes when she's partially nude. She may have used a body double, I guess. A young Lily Li also co-stars, although, the fate of her character was quite heart-breaking! Oh, well. Lily Li did end up becoming a diva of kung fu flicks in subsequent decades, so what does it matter? The pagoda that's rigged to collapse and the pit of fire under a trap door are some nice touches to the action scenes and the story. Also, the art direction is quite neat; for example, there's an elevator behind a closet door. There are some attempts at romance, but they're quickly forgotten about as the film progresses. The action scenes are well-staged and exciting for a 1960's wu xia pian film. The violence in the film is over-the-top, at times(the film was penned by Chang Cheh), but it seems tame when compared to the 'One Armed Swordsman' trilogy or 'Five Element Ninja'. 'Knight of Knights' is highly recommended for fans of wu xia pian flicks.

Another movie by Lily Ho Customer Review Rated Bad 5 - 5 out of 10
I am ardent fan of Lily Ho. There is a part where Lily Ho have to strip half naked, but definitly is not her.
she was so skinny at that time, but the person who appeared in the movie was so fat. This screenplay is written by late Chang Cheh. The story is quite simple. It is about a group of notorious monks who rapes and kills. At that time, this movie was banned in some countries cos it is realated to religion and is quite senstive.
