While Stephen Chow's God of Cookery will probably remain the most famous comedy about cooking in Hong Kong cinema, Wong Jing has written and produced The Lady Iron Chef in answer to the popularity of the TVB cooking show Beautiful Cooking. Director Billy Chung, who previously made Kung Fu Mahjong with Wong Jing, invites popular TVB actress Charmaine Sheh to play the female lead, Ceci. A spoiled girl who simply can't cook, Ceci needs to acquire master culinary skills in a short period of time. The purpose of this painstaking process is of course to win her love, a wealthy restaurant heir played by singer Hacken Lee. Veteran actresses Bonnie Wong and Yuen Qiu (Kung Fu Hustle), well-known for their comedian talent, and Wong Jing himself provide strong support to the cast.

Beer girl and part-time model Ceci (Charmaine Sheh), born to a small-time loafer father (Wong Jing), has the most terrible cooking skills. She turns even instant noodles into something inedible. She meets and falls in love with wealthy SK (Hacken Lee), but his dominating mother (Bonnie Wong) disapproves of their relationship. To win over her future mother-in-law, Ceci must beat Jade (Liu Yang)in a gourmet showdown.
