TVB's 1985 youth drama The Last Performance is an electric, energy-charged series set in the music and dance industry. Appropriately enough, the drama's lead is none other than Andy Lau, who was already a big television star at the time thanks to Return of the Condor Hero and Duke of Mount Deer. Teresa Mo, now also an established big-screen actress, co-stars in this 20-episode drama, along with Yim Chau Wah and dancer-turned-actress Wong Ming Man. Far from a light offering, The Last Performance delves into the complicated relationships and competitive reality of the modern generation, following the evolving friendship and romance of four young people in the face of trials and temptations.

DJ Yip Jin Lung (Andy Lau) is the best of friends with neighbor Tsang Ji Leung (Yim Chau Wah). The two share many of the same interests and thoughts, which becomes a problem when they fall for the same girl: dancer Chow Ching (Teresa Mo). After winning a dance competition, Ching enlists Leung to help manage her blossoming career, while Lung begins to make tracks in the music industry. Success comes with a price, however, and both Leung and Lung are tested by Ching's envious friend June (Wong Ming Man) who tries to seduce them. The tangled relationships and fragile friendships come to a head when Leung resorts to violent measures to keep Ching by his side.

鼓起年青人的勇氣 舞出愛情浪漫旋律

葉展龍(劉德華)是息影多年的紅伶葉不秋(夏萍)與文武生姜寧(鮑方)之子，後因寧另結新歡，秋一怒之下帶著龍離開了。龍長得聰明英偉，對秋甚為孝順，與曾志良(嚴秋華)親如兄弟，後來同時愛上周晴(毛舜筠)。

寧重遇秋，希望與她重續前緣，秋拒絕，更不讓龍與他相認。其後，龍得知身世後，惱怒寧當日移情別戀，他會否向寧報復？另一方面，晴的好友馮美真(黃敏明)被龍深深吸引，不斷阻撓他倆的感情發展，甚至誤會重重，這個感情三角錯又如何？

YIP CHIN-LUNG (Lau Tak Wah) is the son of former Cantonese Opera stars YIP BUT-TSAU (Ha Ping) and KEUNG NING (Pau Fong). The three used to live together but knowing that NING had been cheating on her, TSAU got so angry and decided to leave with LUNG. LUNG has grown to be a good son to TSAU. Later LUNG and his best buddy TSANG CHI-LEUNG (Yim Tsau Wah) both fall in love with a girl called CHOW CHING (Mo Shun Kwan).

After years of separation, NING meets TSAU again. He is desperate to get back with TSAU but is rejected. TSAU does not even want him to get reunited with LUNG. Nevertheless, LUNG happens to discover the relationship between NING and himself. He blames NING for cheating on TSAU and is resolved to take revenge for his mother. CHING’s good friend FUNG MEI-CHUN (Wong Man Ming) has a crush on LUNG and seeks every opportunity to flirt with him. Driven by jealousy, CHUN has been trying to sow discord between LUNG and CHING, which leads to a series of misunderstandings between the pair… How can LUNG heal the wounds caused by love and family tension?
