Acting not quite as good and the chemistry not there all the time but this is a must see in order to get the best from the great sequel "the return of the condor hero".

Julian and Athena is definitely a cute couple. Gallen and whoever that other girl is was pretty bad. Could have recasted them two. Overall if you can fast forward all the part with gallen and the other girl, then this is an instant classic. Still worth it in the watch and re-watch section...

Better story build up... Customer Review Rated Bad 8 - 8 out of 10
Got the 80's version and after reading some comments that the 90's version may be a truer adaptation of the novel, I gave this a go.

Costumes from the 80's definitely better. Acting, debateable. Similar cast from the 80's in the 90's version (some even in the same role!).

The story definitely seem to have more depth in the 90's version compared to the 80's. So there is something new in the 90's version compared to the 80's. If you're a fan of the series, then this might be worth a look.

Unforgettable!!! Customer Review Rated Bad 10 - 10 out of 10
I first saw this TV episode in Taiwan 7 years ago and I've never forgotten about it. When I saw Yesasia was selling it, I immediately bought it without doubt. It truly is a great TV drama. I think it's way much better than the newer version. Athena and Julian made the characters come alive.

Chi Lam was great! I really want them to put Chi Lam in to another condor hero soap, with Gallen Lo of course. Athena may have over-acted a little, but she was great too. I also love Fung, he was evil but funny in a way. Everyone except muk lim chi was fantastic. Muk was lame and acted a pretty character, when she-you know plain ugly! Don't listen to the others by not buying this version, as it is outstandingly perfect! You just can't stop watching this.

Good series....first one i saw of Legend of the Condor Heroes. I thought it was alot better than the orginal because of the hottness of Athena Chu and the great hero type actor that Julian Cheung is. I loved the 18 dragon hand technigue and i loved Athnea chu....shes so cute in this.

Most people like the 83 version. I can't stand that version. I feel like it can bring your IQ down. As a matter of fact most if not all series made in the 80's can bring your IQ down.
The 2003 version is too flamboyant. Effects are awesome but they're often used inappropriately. Also, chemistry between main characters are BAAADDD!!!, especially between Guo Jing and Huang Rong. Huang Rong has a strange low vocal that's often alarming to watch. She looked too arrogant in the movie. Acting overall isn't that great either. Story is more coherant though.

This version, 1994, which is what I'm write a review for, isn't that good either, but it has something that no other versions has: Chemistry! The acting of Athena Chu is impeccable. As for Chilam, his acting went sour in the last 4 episodes. It picked up near the very end though. There are many shortcomings in this movie, but that's the director's fault, not the actors. You may find yourself pressing the ff button a lot for this movie. Despite its shortcomings, I still find this movie very interesting and fun to watch. Definitely more interesting than the other two.

I am a fan of both felix and julian, athena and barbara. I think for looks Athena and Julian are much cuter than the old version couple, but for acting, I guess Felix and Barbara did better job.Huang rong should be cute but a bit "shieh" . I think Julian was too quiet as Guo Jing in this series. Anyway, both are my favorite, but as for quality and especially costumes the old version are better. That;s just my opinion. Gallen acted bad too

This was the first adaptation of Legend of the Condor Heroes I'd ever seen in its entirety. I enjoyed it more overall than the 2003 mainland version. Julian and Athena were very cute together as Guo Jing and Huang Rong. Liu Dan as Hong Qi Gong was the absolute bomb! Gallen Lo looked a bit too old to play Yang Guo and Emily Kwan was a total wash as Mu Nian Ci, though.

Memorable series!! Customer Review Rated Bad 10 - 10 out of 10
Although a remake it is still a great series in itself. I really enjoyed the characters especially Athena Chu who is one of the prettiest actresses in HK. The fighting scenes were pretty good and I highly recommend buying this series because you wont be disappointed. Personally I never get sick of watching this series over and over again. I just wish they would come out with these series in DVD even if it is more money.
