This Taiwan television series shot in 1992 is widely accepted to be the definitive adaptation of the Chinese folklore legend The Legend of White Snake. The 50-episode fantasy romance tells how Bai Su Zhen, the white snake spirit, falls in love with mortal scholar Xu Xian. The two get married, but Bai is hunted by monk Fa Hai, who eventually traps Bai underneath a pagoda. Bai would find redemption 20 years later with her son, Xu Shi Lin.

The inspired cast is perhaps one of the main reasons this series attained classic status. Angie Chiu proved popular with the viewers as Bai, as did Cecilia Yip playing the handsome male lead Xu Xian. Both of them play two roles, with Yip doubling as the grown-up Xu Shi Lin and Chiu playing the rabbit spirit who is sent to kill (but ends up falling for) Xu. In supporting roles are Maggie Chan as the green snake and Qian De Men as Fa Hai.

As i have seen so many good comments on this series, so i bought it last month. I could not drop it, it is one of the best series i have ever seen so far. all the main characters especially Cecilia Yip and Angie Chiu portraited themselves nicely and beautifully as the heavenly couple. very addictive, i must agree. this series can be watched time over time over time again.

 So worth your money Customer Review Rated Bad 10 - 10 out of 10
This is definitely a collector's item. This is THE OFFICIAL DVD release of "Xin Bai Niang Zi Chuan Qi (aka New Tale of Madam White Snake)" by the original Taiwanese production house, CTTV. The picture quality is SUPER-DUPER clear and so is the crispy audio. Each DVD disk comes packed with 2 episodes with a menu for selecting (or deselecting traditional chinese subtitle). I have been waiting for this official release of this tv-series for such a long time. I'm so glad I didn't get the China DVD version (which cost just 5 dollars less) because now the wait is just worth it. Once again, this is THE OFFICIAL version of this blockbuster tv-series featuring Angie Chiu and Cecilia Yip in the main cast. Get this now before it disappears if I were you. If you guys love this movie, it will be worth your money. Even if you haven't seen this movie before, this DVD set will promise to deliver the best presentation of this mega 50-episodes tv-series. It can't get any better than this (well, unless of course YesAsia offers a price reduction...):) This was and always will be one of my all-time favorite TV-Series from Taiwan/Hong Kong. Watch it and be addicted.

Finally out the UNCUT version, only the best like this series worth the treasure. Go and get it now, you won't be disappointed.
