Itsuka Dokusho Suru Hi (a.k.a. The Milkwoman) is a beautifully poetic story about missed opportunities. Munako (Tanaka Yuko), the milk woman of the title, is a middle-aged spinster who has been in love with Keita (Kishibe Ittoku) since she was at high school. Keita, however, is married to the beautiful, but terminally ill Yoko (Nishina Akiko). Every morning Munako trudges up and down the hillsides of the picturesque city of Nagasaki, so she can bring milk to her beloved, and over the years Yoko's declining health has done little to dampen her intuition. She can plainly see that her husband's heart is yearning for a woman other than her. But what can Yoko do to keep her husband by her side?

Directed by Ogata Akira (Boy's Choir), uses a variety of techniques and styles to realize Ogata's intention of bringing his characters' innermost thoughts to the screen. Using a variety of narrative devises, the director layers this gentle, meditative film to portray the loneliness, isolation, and hope of these people who have seemingly allowed their goals and dreams to slip away, whilst keeping them agonizingly close to hand.

独身の美奈子は、牛乳配達とスーパーのレジ係で生計を立てながら、夜は本がたくさん詰まった家で、たったひとりで過ごしていた。そんな美奈子を見守っているのは、亡き母親の友人・皆川敏子。敏子は痴呆症にかかった夫を介護しながら、ひっそりと小説を書き続けていた。そんな敏子の家に、美奈子は毎朝、牛乳を配達する。また、中学の同級生だった高梨の家にも牛乳を届けていた。市役所の福祉課に勤務する高梨は、末期癌の妻・容子を自宅で看病していた。実は高梨と美奈子は、高校時代に付き合っていたことがあったのだが…。
坂の街としても知られる九州は長崎県を舞台にした、大人のための純愛ドラマ。いまだに初恋をひきずる独身の中年女性と、彼女を深く愛しながらも病身の妻を献身的に介護する男の、不器用ながらもひたむきな恋愛模様を繊細なタッチで綴っていく。主演は、数々の映画やドラマで活躍する田中裕子と岸部一徳。映像特典として、メイキングや予告編などが収録されている。
